Hi all,
Well, what a journey this has been so far. I kind of think of it as a rebirth. I'm learning how to do everything without smoking!
For the last 9 days, I've created a little smoke free zone around me. There are no smokes and ash trays at my house or in my car. I haven't physically been around that I know who smokes or has smokes. I've been a little worried that if someone who came to my house had smokes or if I knew someone who had some, I'd ask for one.
Well, no more worries. Last night I celebrated Good Friday at a friend's house (dinner and watched The Passion of Christ). There were, as always, a few folks who immediately headed outside right after dinner. I chose to help with cleaning off the table and helping with dishes. During this time I told myself over and over "I'm a nonsmoker....I'm a nonsmoker". And the crave passed (I had some gum also). I felt great!
I'll be facing a similar situation on Sunday at a family celebration, and I'm feeling very confident. Thanks to all of your tips and advice, I'm making it one day at a time, sometimes one minute at a time. I haven't posted much, but all that I've read is really helping me make this happen. You guys are inspiring me!!
Have a great smoke free day,
Boxerfan
