Mel, I quit cold turkey and haven't really had headaches as such but have had a very messy head and sore lips! I think this is because I am chewing them in my sleep. I don't agree that you can't quit cold turkey and am determined to prove it!!!!!! I quit cold turkey on January 16th and never experienced headaches. I have no idea if one is related to the other so just call your doctor and see what they say. Maybe you can start a medication that will relax you and make it a little easier. Did you stop drinking caffeine also? It could be a zillion things. Call you Doc before you cave. Good luck Mel. I quit cold turkey. I was very dizzy and light headed and it was hard to concentrate. But I would not say it was a headache. You may want to see a Dr. Do pain relievers work? Hang in there smoking will not help. I also went cold turkey, but had no headaches. Have you stopped drinking coffee (if you ever did) or done anything different? The quiting smoking is a red hearing for the headaches. If they continue you should see a doctor. Good luck Harrell - Free and Healing for Four Months, Twelve Days and 24 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 11 Days and 13 Hours, by avoiding the use of 3325 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me $501.55.

Mel Mel Mel Do you know the success rate of quitting cold turkey are ??? Slim and none. Thats not to say that you can,t do it but its the hardest addiction on the planet to over come. Do yourself a favour and see your Doctor he may prescribe a NRT to help you through the tough part. It,s not unmanly to look for help from science on this one. I,m 68 smoked for 50+ years and i,m using the patch and it got me through withdrawel period very nicely..Hang in their pal..

You might think you are going to die from quitting - but you won't. Try relaxing your jaw - if you are tensed up (and you probably are) you may be clenching your jaw - this can cause terrible, persistent headaches. Every couple minutes do a check - see if your teeth are clenched or if your jaw is stiff and make a conscious effort to relax. This will probably ease the pain in your head. Take care. Mel, Are you sure the headache is quit-related? Maybe you should speak with your doctor about this - it could be something else (maybe a sinus infection?). There are a bunch of us that quit in February - we have a couple of posting threads going right now - so check them out! Glad you're here! This is the first time quiting and I've went cold turkey, my quite date was 2-27-07 and my head is still killing me. What is wrong? I have had a head ache for weeks and my temples hurt. I want a smoke but know to keep fighting the urge.
