Hey Freemom, Those 16 Days are nothing to sneeze at!! Those are 16 HUGE days and I'm so proud of you. What you've done here is you've slipped but you know what caused it and how to prevent it from happening again. That makes you a heck of a strong person and your quit is very strong. How sweet is that? You're doing a fantastic job!!! Jean - how are you doing now? Great job on resisting those cravings. That's where I goofed the first time around - I didn't hold out and learn early on to ride out that kind of craving. As a result, I had multiple slips and relapsed for a few weeks. I learned a lot and am now stronger than ever BUT if I had ridden them out originally ... I'm have about 75 days now instead of 16! Keep hanging in there and come back for help if you need to. Ok... I'm back from my very long walk and the rollercoaster of cravings have now backed away :) Wow.. what a ride ! Tutti,, I bought myself Oil of Olay face moisturizer (was on sale!), a People magazine and a bag of M & M's - chocolate and peanut ;) Now I'm just resting with a hot cup of tea. Will have some lunch and then settle in and watch the Blue Jay game at 1 p.m. Once again .. thanks ever so much for helping me through one helluva morning ! Onward and upward :) J xo My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 259 Amount Saved: $102.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 4 Mins: 3 Seconds: 36

Good for you Jean!! You're doing a great job!! I know this is a hard day but you WILL get through it. I'll bet you feel so much better after your walk. You have some great coping mechanisms in place. When the cravings get that hard, try to sleep as much as you can too. Don't sleep in the evening or you'll mess up your sleep through the night. But today, get some sleep and let your body continue to heal while that demon wastes his time. If you can't sleep, rest and post. LOL We're here for you!! Stay Strong!! Tutti PS Tell me what treats you got for yourself when have time. LOL I need some new ideas. Ok.. took shower, am dressed, sun is now up and I'm going for a very long walk. omg... Tutti, read your posts a little while back.. and yes, today I will pamper myself. When this has finally passed I will most certainly need to just rest and you are absolutely right - I am healing.. I swear it was easier to have major surgery and recover from that ! Thank you everyone for everything.. I will do those breathing exercises, walk and while I'm out, when the stores open I am going to pick up some little 'gifts' for myself and then come home and chill out for the rest of the day........... This is soooooooooo exhausting... Thanks for aloha for talking to me in im.. :) ok.. I'm leaving now... and not to worry - smoking is NOT an option ! j xo My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 256 Amount Saved: $102.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 43 Seconds: 32

Jean, I want to post these Deep Breathing exercises and the Tension Release exercises. They were posted by the support specialist and I use them all of the time. They've helped me a lot. Please keep these exercises printed out or in your computer. They have helped me out of a tight spot many times. Hugs, Tutti TIPS -Exercising can help to manage your withdrawal easier overall. -Watch your caffeine intake, especially after 6 pm. Drink decaffeinated coffee or herbal teas. -A routine to relax your body at night helps some people fall asleep. Use the following deep breathing and relaxing techniques. Deep Breathing: 1) Take a slow deep breath in through your nose to the slow count of five. Push your tummy out at the same time. 2) Slowly breathe out through your mouth to the count of 7. 3) Repeat this 3 times, as you feel yourself relaxing and the stress dropping away. Tension Releasing: 1) Let go of the tension in your neck and shoulders. 2) Let go of the tension in your jaw. 3) Focus completely on your breathing, nothing else. 4) As you exhale, let your shoulders drop and let your body sink into wherever you are. 5)Repeat this until you feel relaxed and centered. *It's a skill. You may want to practice several times a day to make it a normal part of your routine. That'll be great for Jean. You're doing so good. I know this is sooo hard but it's not anything you can't do. I promise. You can hang onto a bear's butt long enough to get through this. LOL (One of my dad's old sayings there.) It does make you mad as hell. It's like one long labor pain. Do you need to laugh? Oh God, look at my Day 3 post called Gloom, Despair and Agony on Me...Deep Dark Depression, Excessive Misery." I mean I felt all of that plus anger!! Jean, really pamper yourself. Think up all the stuff you want to say when you b**ch out that demon. Drink your water. Remind yourself that you're healing, healing, healing.....In other words, you're seriously healing today!! Yay!! Reward yourself when you get through this day. Don't cook supper, clean, or do any of those chores.....This day is yours for snuggling up on the couch with a good movie or a book. This day is all about you and how you've seriously kicked butt. Post, post, post. We're here for you. Next week, you'll be helping me or someone else. Stay Strong and HUGS!!
