Wow, thanks for all your messages. I'm so glad to hear I'm not alone in this and what is odd is that on the Chantix website and in the pamphlet...they do not tell you that you withdraw from nicotine while on the pills. I know that is exactly what happened though because I remember vividly what withdrawals feel like. I started out on the 1 pill a day for 1st 3 days and have been on the 2 a day now for 2 days I believe. I tried to contact pfizer to tell them about my experience, but there was no where to email them. Thanks for all your support. I hope to be smoke-free and a fellow supporter very soon.

Also a Chantix quitter. I remember that first week very well. Remember that Chantix is a nicotine inhibitor. Even though you are smoking that first week, your brain is not receiving the nicotine...therefore, you are going through nicotine withdrawel while smoking! After your quit day, you are simply breaking that habit and learning to deal with all those triggers, etc..... Keep the quit! You are doing just fine! hi ~ i'm new here also and on Chantix. The first week i was on chantix i felt like you did also. I was just so very tired and kind of in a fog. I quit smoking on my 6th day of chantix and haven't looked back! I feel better now than i did last week when i was still smoking and on the chantix! good luck! During my first week of Chantix I too had the fatigue and irritability. There were a couple of days I could have stayed in bed all day if allowed. I went from 30 cigs to 10 and wasn't getting the normal buzz, so I knew it was time to quit. The cigs didn't taste good and it was annoying to smoke and not get anything out of it. At some point during the 2nd week I felt pretty good and the fatigue was gone. Like others have said, you actually go through your nicotine withdrawl while smoking, so I am certain some of these symptoms are related to the nasty nicotine leaving your body. Congratulations on your decision to quit! You can do it! I'm a Chantix user too and it sounds to me like it's starting to have it's effect on you. The smoking out of habit, not getting a rush, etc... is what is supposed to happen. Make a note these next few days of when that habit to smoke pops up. Those will be some of your strongest trigger times. Just curious - are you using the starter pack where you gradually up your dose or did you start with the 1mg pills? Regardless, there is a ton of great info here - do the workbook to the left, read old posts, and post yourself as often as you need. - Freemom My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 348 Amount Saved: $118.32 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 16 Mins: 25 Seconds: 43

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Yes, I remember the first week or so of Chantix being very odd. And then days 4-6 being real doozies while I went through full scale nicotine withdrawal while i was still smoking. That's a real head trip, you wait and see! :) Maybe Chantix worked quicker for you and what you were feeling was *already* nicotine withdrawal. I know someone else who said cigarettes tasted completely different to her 2 hours after her first pill. On another board (or maybe it was here; if you search the messages for Chantix, you'll find a ton of them), I described everything after day 6 (and I quit cigarettes on day 8) as completely mellow and floaty and almost as if I had taken a valium or a percocet or something. So, bear in mind that you *will* go through nicotine withdrawal while you are still smoking; looking back, with the exception of some great vivid dreams, I didn't have any side effects from Chantix that I can't attribute just to quitting smoking. I was just coming back to this site to post my Chantix update: I finished my 12 week course on Monday and have now been Chantix free for three days (counting today). And I've experienced no side effects or withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Chantix; I know this is a concern of a lot of people (it was a concern of mine). So, I've nothing but good things to say about the drug. All the kooky side effects and tiredness or not tiredness or highs and lows and all that evened out, for me, after about two weeks and it's being pretty much regular life -- but without cigarettes!! -- since then. I wish you the best of experiences with it and hope things go as well for you as they did for me! Amnesia, I'm sorry I can't help you but a lot of the members use Chantix. They'll be along soon to answer your questions. I just wanted to hop in here and welcome you to the site. Congratulations on your decision to quit. You CAN do this. Stay Strong, Tutti I quit cold turkey and I experienced most of the symptoms you described. I am on day 4 of Chantix. My quit date is this next Monday. The first 3 days on this drug were eventful. Has anyone else experienced tiredness, confusion, fatigue, irritability, a feeling of being separate from your body? These are the exact symptoms I've had in the past when quitting cold turkey. BUT, day 4 has been a dream. A little euphoric this afternoon and my cravings for cigarettes has weaned from 20 or more cigs a day to only around 10. And, those really weren't cravings, but habit. I don't feel any rush when I smoke, it doesn't calm me down or make me excited either. I've searched all over the web and can't find any info about these symptoms from anyone else. I'd love to hear from you!
