Thanks guys. For some reason I couldn't get back into the site last night to reply. but THANK YOU sooooo much for replying. It always helps to get a wee reminder of the plus points. I did have a glass or two of wine then thought nope, I wasn't going to sit and self-pity. So I did an hour long work out video and really threw myself into it and felt much better. I am thinking that maybe these feelings of getting up tight at night, is actually me starting to feel more energentic again. I ALWAYS used to spend nights doing physical stuff - walking the dog, working out etc. maybe it's time, and I'm fit enough, to get back to that way of life. Though at 46 - I DO undoubtedly look old. Older than some of my mates. It is the price paid for years of heavy smoking. I hope younger quitters are reading. STOP before the damage is too far gone!!!!!!!!! Maybe I will use the money saved for an eyebag lift at some point. lol Thanks guys. Hi Tutti, thanks again for your kind words. You know so well, what it is to give over your own life for your kids. NOT that I - and I'm sure you feel the same way - grudge it for a second. I have had SO much back in return. But I hear you, about building a life for ME. I could not believe the grief I have suffered since my first "baby" left home. I will, I will, I will. I promise! Couldn't get out of the house today as had some tradesmen visiting. And boy has that been tough because for some reason, I have had some real big craves today. Weird, because in the past, all I've felt is uncomfortable rather than wanting a smoke as such. But today, Oh my how I thought of the whole little smoking ritual. Anyway, tomorrow I AM out of the house for most of the day. Doing some training with the voluntary organisation I work for. Good company and lunch thrown in. Looking forward to it. Thanks again to everybody who posted their support. Couldn't do it without you guys. Thanks again folks. Tutti - very astute of you. There is very little in my life that is just for "me" if you know what I mean. Aside from the glossy magazines I buy as my stopping rewards. I have one of those and a pot of tea and that's my "me" time. It's not good, is it? I never really have a time when I'm child-free. My kids used to go to their dad's and after my elder left home (went off to Art school) and I realised how little was in my life aside from them, and just how awful things might be when the younger one left home, I really did mean to work on getting something in MY life. Oh well, things changed. My younger fell out with her dad and doesn't want to stay with him again. he hasn't done much to persuade her and so, my child-free time has gone. This morning, bored out of my skull (my day should really consist of sanding painwork, washing, ironing etc but I don't much fancy that!) I have been remembering the significance of the smokes in my life. It was my "thing", my one and only "thing" just for me. How pathetic is that???? I take on board the comments about the 3 month mark. How typical it should arrive at the same time as a very bad case of PMT????! I'm dropping my daughter at her friends at 1.30 today and not picking her up again until around bed time. Mercy - I hear you very lovely day. I'm going to take myself OUT of this damn house. The sanding will wait. Windy - I am looking forward to that beach. Thanks everybody, for keeping me going. Determined to hang in until the 3 months blues AND my PMS blues, are passed. Love, Meg x (because my alias doesn't fit right now!) Hi there, Think about it this way: Every person, smoker or non smoker has days like that. That has NOTHING to do with quitting smoking. It's just one of those days. Good luck and don't smoke ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 335 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,059 Amount Saved: 988.25 Life Gained: Days: 46 Hrs: 15 Mins: 38 Seconds: 38

I have those thoughts as well. I have had more dental problems now since I have quit. I have gained about 35 lbs and weight has been very important to me in the past (always petite and NEVER had to 'watch' my weight) But...I CAN breathe better than before. I CAN exercise as I could not before. My skin IS a better color, etc..... There are definately benefits to quitting, even though there have been a few pitfalls along the way. The good news is....after 34 years of smoking 3 packs a day, I DO NOT have cancer (yet), which has recently been a big scare for me with biopsy in my mouth. Yes.....I believe it is a 'phase'. You are doing SOOOOOOOOO well! serenity2, many of us get stuck in a rut, smoker or non-smoker. For some reason there exists this 3 month kick in the pants. Becoming a non-smoker is a journey. By stopping smoking you are making a lifestyle change, a change of attitude & most important of all there exists the opportunity to re-evaluate our lives to that of living life without nicotine dependancy. You are experiencing a reality check & it's o.k. to feel crap.
