I will quit on 2/14

Good for you CMMM! Valentine's Day is a wonderful day to care of your heart. And what better way to do that than quitting smoking! You can do this. Hope the Chantix helps. I'm using Wellbutrin and the patch. I have to say one of the easiest cigarettes for me to give up was the first one in the morning. And yet, it was the one that I wanted most when I smoked. Take this journey one crave at a time. And post often, it really helps. Great attitude, Mom! You'll be free before you know it - let us look after you until that time comes. I'm sorry that I can't help you with the Chantix, apart from the fact that many people have very successful quits using it. But I can cheer you on as you celebrate those first milestones! Will be looking out for you on the 14th! Welcome aboard CMMM!! I just wanted to welcome you to our family, and offer you my hand whenever you shall need it! We are here to support you, and we understand EXACTLY what you will be going through!! Now that your decision is made, just take some time and read anything you can find about nicotene and addiction. There will always be something you will learn! I don't know about the cutting down thing, or the Chantix, but I do know many people here have. It might be helpful to do a search for messages with those key words!! Take care, and stop by once in a while to let us know how you are doing! We will be looking forward to the 14th!! 4my2girls My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 337 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,131 Amount Saved: $1101.99 Life Gained: Days: 27 Hrs: 4 Mins: 11 Seconds: 36

CallMeMomMom I am a clock watcher too. Only I don't reward myself with a cig when the clock strikes whatever. I just watch the minutes go by. One minute with no cig, another minute with no cig and so on. I can wait for the minutes to go by for a whole day. I tried the weaning method the first time. Then I realized that I was training my body to want to smoke. Instead of the usual triggers, I was just replacing those with clock made triggers. I was doing nothing but learning how to smoke differently. I know Chantrix has worked with a lot of people. I'm using the gum which seems to be working out okay for the worst cravings. CallMeMomMom, sorry to say this but... I am not knocking your attemp at 'weaning' off the cigs but dont you go cutting down to the point of forcing yourself to wait half an hour for a ciggie after din dins.. You are playing a 'waiting game' counting down the minutes & clock watching. You are basically reinforcing you're so-called 'need' for a cigarette due to extended withdrawl you're going through from nicotine. This tricks your brain into thinking that you need the cig. honest ! I would also like to take this opportunity to point out that Addiction to nicotine aint your best friend & never-Smokers will never understand the nature of smokers / ex-smokers quits & nicotine addiction / withdrawl that we all go through while smoking & in our quits. It would be wise of you to read up & learn about the nature of tobacco / nicotine addiction to understand what smoking is really about. Who knows, you may even realise you don't need NRT or to suffer nausea from Chantix ... you don't get nausea with cold turkey. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 765 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 19,139 Amount Saved: $4972.5 Life Gained: Days: 110 Hrs: 13 Mins: 56 Seconds: 11

Mom, Welcome and congrats on making such a great choice! Start making a plan! Work with your Doctor to come up with something that is right for you and enlist in your pharmacists knowledge to help you. Make a crave basket and load it up with coping mechanisms that will help you through those tough days. Prepare for the morning by changing your routine and see the difference it can make. We understand what you are going through and can help. The members are amazing with support and knowledge and will assist you every step of the way. We are your extra support, so post with us often!
