Smoked1, Learn from this experience. Yes the patches will help you but it is still a good idea to keep distractions and other coping strategies close. Also don't forget to reward yourself. Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team

Hey, stop beating yourself up! Try again. NEVER give up on yourself. Smoked, I smoked for 20 years. I went 215+ days and had a medical crisis and smoked. It obviously didnt' help and didnt' answer questions. My spouse smokes but he has to go outside and smoke. I live in Colorado and its been blistering cold (zero or below at nights) so he suffers. I can understand what you are going through but you can do it. one day at a time Kim My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/10/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 184 Amount Saved: $29.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 36 Seconds: 12

Hi smoked1 - One thing has got to be true in order to have a successful quit...and that is - your desire to quit has got to be stronger than your desire to smoke. Period. IF that is true for you - it's time to read and read more here about coping skills... about proactive behaviors ... those times that get to you are the times you need those skills to get you to the other side smokefree... Stay close and get busy reading old posts if you're willing... read more and then when there is time, read more... You can do this... you have to want it! REALLY want it. Smoked1, When we get home is the hardest part early in the quit. Getting throught the workday was always easier. You have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. If the patch will help you then go ahead and use it. Whatever works for you. There isn't a magic cure. Hell week is Hell and you just have to take some deep breaths and get through it. You CAN do this! Be determined and refuse to give in to the addiction. So you smoked today. So What. How many years have you smoked? Take it five minutes at a time if you have to. smoked1, I hope you have had a serious chat with your lady friend. Number one.. she needs to never, ever smoke in your place or around you. Sit in the "No Smoking" section everywhere! Be certain to let her know how serious you are. Being around an "enabler" has got to suck so double your commitment and perhaps she will put them down after seeing your success. Hang in there and best wishes. Be Strong. Be Smart. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi, smoked1. Living with a smoker has got to add a whole new dimension to hell. You have my sincere admiration for even attempting a quit. But others here have done that successfully. You can too. Cigs piss you off? Good start. Stay that way. If the patch, or some other NRT helps, use it. Same goes with any other method: Zyban/Wellbutrin, laser light, hypnosis, acu-anything, or standing on your head and pouring water in your nose. Whatever works for you is the right method. Learn as much about this addiction as you can. The more you come to realize what a hideous and vile thing smoking is, the easier it becomes to part with it.
