Sixth day of Smoke-Free-Wife says i am irritable

17 years ago 0 985 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Here's some suggestions re irritability... all of these suggestions may help you to relax... 1. Go for walks.. long or short it doesn't matter 2. Take a long hot shower/bath 3. Walk away when you feel yourself getting edgier/more anxious 4. Plug into some of your favourite music In otherwords, look for things to distract yourself and hopefully it will calm you down and reduce your irritability. And from what other's have said -- this too shall pass. :) Stay strong .. Hi Fox Man, It will subside - tell your wife! I remember that doing exercise was really helpful, particularly at the beginning of the quit, for me. It seems to be quite important to get rid of the excess energy that quitting creates. I spent a lot of time on my own, too, at the beginning - but then I did turn into a bit of a monster for the first couple of weeks. Hang in there - things will settle down. The gym really helps! Hope you are feeling better soon, Deli My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 167 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,516 Amount Saved: 501 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 2 Mins: 39 Seconds: 53

Excellent point, Sparky! Sometimes we get so wrapped up in ourselves and our 'quit' that we fail to see what is happening around us to the ones we love. Think I'll take a few minutes out of the day to tell my family how grateful I am for putting up with me. I am sure there have been times when I have been unpleasant (noooooooooooooo.................not me!) Yes you are edgy, it will go away. Sometimes when I catch my self in the middle of being "out of sorts" I have to laugh at myself. May not be funny at the time, but it certianly changes the mood. What Monica said to. Walks, getting away by yourself and do a little self talk. You are going to do this. When it comes time for your reward, get one for your wife too. She is going though this quit with you. Just a thought ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 35 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 355 Amount Saved: $105 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 19 Mins: 8 Seconds: 19

Hi Fox_Man - It is part of the journey... walk - that helped me so much - just get up and move around... Moving - walking - moves the energy through and softens the edge... Just be patience w/yourself right now and ask your wife to as well :) You'll be OK... time, friend - time...
