Shevie, I am honored to have you come and wish me well. Thank you for giving me permission to use your posts. I do them at different stages of your quit, that way the people can see how you progressed. I print all of the post that way they can see the responses. I wish they all had computers and they could come and see for themselves. I remember when I first came to this site, I was already 30+ days but I was very insecure. I would read your posts or anyone that was way beyond me, but I was too timid to respond. I thought what could I say that would mean anything to them. But I took what I needed to continue the journey, and it worked. Thanks Shevie, and congratulations on your amazing journey.....Sunshine stickin to it, I love your name. thank you for stopping by for my 1 year birthday party. I read your post and you do a great job on this board, I see you every where. Congratulations on your awesome quit. Stay strong and determined and you will make it....Sunshine Todd, what can I say I have felt a connection to you the first time I saw your name on this board. Maybe its because we both live in VA..ha!! When you wrote about your friend, I worried about you being under soooo much stress and having to be with so many people smoking. I think that it had the opposite effect on you. When you wrote RECIPE FOR MY NEW LIFE, that was for me. And now it is helping others that is what is so great about this site. I know in my heart of hearts I wouldn't be here if not for SSC, and people like you. God bless you Todd and thanks......Sunshine Trailbum, thank you so much for dropping by for my celebration. Look at you with those 114 days, you are at the beach having fun and celebrating with all of your friends. Stay strong, positive, and determined......Sunshine My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 372 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,333 Amount Saved: $1302 Life Gained: Days: 54 Hrs: 15 Mins: 17 Seconds: 42

Lady, thank you for your thoughts and inspiration. I haven't been on the forum for sometime. I have been so busy with my Community Center. I started a non-smoking program and it is doing really well. We have 12 members, I started it last August with only 3 of us. Now you talk about support we have it. We meet 2 times a week. And on the first Sat of the month we go out to dinner. So much fun, we play card games (Rook) my favorite. Our phones are always ringing or I can just walk next door to one of my friends. I kept telling them, If I can quit smoking you can too. We have 4 more that keep saying they are going to stop smoking. I keep talking to them, they will come when they are ready. Each one of us is so different, some went cold turkey (God Bless Them), but most of them used the patch. I guess it was because I had success with the patch. We have 8 women and 4 men. For the program, I use Fish-Out-of-the Water's "Recipe For My New Life Post". I hope he won't mind. I think maybe I should have ask him first. I also used some of yours, Luna's, Shevie's, and Pam's (BF). I should have ask all of you. But I knew in my heart that you wouldn't mind. There are probably more but I can't think right now. I tried to get them to come to SSC, but most of them don't have a computer. Every time we meet each one of us has to bring a positive saying. And 5 things they did to avoid smoking, and what they did to help someone, and what someone did to help them. We do this for probably and hour, and then we play cards, and eat until 11:30 or 12:00. I am so proud of all of them, I was on the phone for probably 2 hours tonight. It has made a difference in my life, it has gotten me out of the house, I have started laughing again, and believe me laughter is good for the soul. I have more energy, just being with all of them, I know that my life will never be the same after my losses, and nothing can ever fill that void. But helping others has taken away most of my grief. I am on a mission for my small rural community. I know that this program is just going to keep growing. We also have a exercise room in the Center, with many different machines. We use them for 45 min to an hour. They can also go anytime and use the machines. As you can tell I am very excited abo

Thanks Lady for your encouraging words, sometimes it is overwhealming. But I just have to re-group and start with something different. Yes, I know that you were a cold turkey quitter and I admire anyone that does it. That is hard for me to tell them what to do and that is the reason I printed off some of the post of people that went cold turkey. They love all the post, I print them and every one has a notebook to put them in. I printed your post CHANGE this morning. Last week I printed off the post by Shevie, the song GOING THROUGH HELL, and just so happened one in the group had the CD and brought it in and we listen and sang it because we had the words (lots of fun). The song was an inspiration to the cold turkey quitters. They said, now I know why you call this first week HELL WEEK, but you just keep on going. They will make comments like, that is exactly how I am feeling, or that is a good idea I'm going to try this. It goes on and on. Its a feel good time for every one. Thanks Lady, may you have a blessed weekend. Mad Englishman, thanks for stopping by. I enjoy your posts soooo much. Keep them coming, and congratulations on you 400 HUGE DAYS!! Riverdale Man, thank you so much, I keep up with you by reading all of you stories. There is one man in the program that reminds me of you. He has struggled so much, and so did you. But look at you now!! Congratulations on being a great quitter, and supporter on this board. I loved your reward, that must have been amazing trip. Phil, thanks for you encouraging words, and for all that you do on this board. Congratulations on your BIG 157 days, you are awesome. Have a wonderful smoke-free weekend.... shoot - you beat me to it... I just finished my long run for the week and I don't know about your part of VA, but where I am (Richmond), it's an unseasonably 70 degree cloudless, sunshiny day and I was thinking of you (for obvious reasons) whilst I plodded along my course. Through the woods of a nearby park the rays of you were streaming through the leafless canopy warming my stride. I've thought of your journey here and how inspirational your path has been. I know it's been a trudge for you at times - I remember when your daughter Pam came by to let us know your well-being and I'm so glad for you that you fought so hard and discovered the courage within yourself to keep on keepin' on. I'm sure your daughter is very proud. Through your trials, you've been nothing but warm, bright, always supportive and uplifting. What a wonderful person and what a wonderful addition you are here. Sunshine, thank you for being here and for being you. A huge congratulations from me to you - job well done! keep fightin' the good fight - fish :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 381 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,444 Amount Saved: $1905 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 13 Mins: 28 Seconds: 7
