My First Weekend

17 years ago 0 388 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Daytime Mommy and Audrey, It is my first weekend as well. It is great to know that we will not be in this alone. I started my weekend by joining a gym. Four days and Five pounds is not a good way to start :) But hey at least I am smoke free. I plan to do a lot of errands, play with the kids and stay close to the computer. Maybe we can talk each other through this first. Hi Audrey, I'm feeling the same as you I'm over day 3 and starting day 4 and worried about the weekend as well. Iwork 5 days a week in a non smoking enviroment and your used to not smoking there now like you I'll have to try and keep myself busy and not let myself slip over the weekend. Had a bad day yesterday afternoon and evening felt very depressed and cranky, and very tired in the evening. So I just went to bed extra early and feel better today. Hope I don't feel that way again today. For a few minutes there I really wanted a cig but thought thats not going to change anything but make it worse so I waited it out and then it was gone but the depression lasted all afternoon. Anybody else have those type of feelings. Hope you get through weekend I'll be thinking of you.

All, Just got back from a short meeting and found all of your tips and recommendations! Thank you... I do have confidence. But as you all know there is a first time for everything...first time you drove without smoking, first cup of coffee without smoking, first beer without smoking, first evening without smoking, etc., etc., etc. And then that second time you do whatever without smoking it is easier. So this is my first weekend and it is the longest experience without smoking. We're expecting snow on Monday so it might be extra long if I can't go to work. Thank you all for thinking of me and supporting me. We'll make it! That's ok! Staying home the whole time would drive you batty. Mix it up a little. I know I'll go to the market and do some little errands. Just no risky places. Have a great weekend Mom. Anything but smoke..we'll make it. Anybody have any advice on my first weekend? I'm having trouble filling up the 2 hours gained per day during the work week when I am chained to a non-smoking busy environment most of the day. I'm a little nervous about this weekend and the overwhelming amount of free time. I have some busy domestic work (some of it I enjoy) and will be staying home almost all weekend. Just hoping someone might have a tip I could take into my weekend with me. :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 67 Amount Saved: $8.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 51 Seconds: 27

Good Morning Rainie, Mom, JT, Cig! Thanks for the suggestion JT. I have a list, one list, but fun and not so fun things are on it. Today is the nicer of the two days so I am going to the state park for a nice long walk. Smokeless in Oklahoma said it is a must to have black licorice with me on these walks so I will pick up some of that on the way. Later when I come back I am going to make spaghetti sauce for which I have all the ingredients (trying to keep busy during the week I think I went to the store and bought one can of tomatoes, came home, put it away, went back to the store, bought another can, came home, put it away, etc...thank goodness the price of oil is going down). I am becoming addicted the Food Network. Now with more time I have no new affinity for the CSI's or sitcoms but I like educational, news, Paula Dean, Emeril. I bought myself a George Foreman because I used to smoke alot outside grilling. It's winter now anyway so I stay inside warm and away from the biggest trigger. I'm worried about my weight too JT so thus my no exuses hike today. Tomorrow will be cold and rainy so I'll save all my indoor things to do for tomorrow. I like football too and there will be two good ones tomorrow. Mom, hope you feel better. I felt a little crappy waking up too. Pamper yourself. Talk to y'all (don't let it fool you, I'm originally from NJ) later. Audrey ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 89 Amount Saved: $11 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 10 Mins: 26 Seconds: 29

Audrey Congratulations for 3 entire days already! I've been making some plans for my own hell week and hope some of these ideas might help you. I've started making a list for things I need to do and one for things I can and want to do. I found some recipe cards and decided to make a game for when I'm craving or need to fill some time. On each card I write one thing from each list making sure I'll be able to do them both in about 1/2 hour or less because my attention span tends to wander. The rules of my game are simple. Randomly pick a card and complete at least one of the items. This gives you a chance to treat yourself or accomplish what needs doing depending on your mood. Examples: 1. Make a nice cup of the new berry herbal tea and watch the first 30 minute show on tv that sounds good. 2. Clean the bathroom mirror, countertop and sink. Or 1. Read the first 15 pages of any book you like or think you'll like. 2. Wash the black marks/nicotine off walls in the bedroom. Ok it may not be for everyone, but use your imagination and the possibilities are almost endless. Just making my lists and cards has started being fun and after all why not enjoy our new lives whenever we can. Happy weekend :) everyone! Good morning Audrey (freedom, daytime mommy,JT, rainie, and everyone). Glad you liked the idea but it doesn't matter where it came from as long as it helps. LOL, maybe we should get together and market the idea...anyone know anything about prototypes or copywriting laws or have a rich relative or friend? Donald Trump, are you reading this???Ok, that idea made me giggle cause I heard he's anti-smoking. Seriously, I feel like we're all in this together even though I'm still only getting ready! I'm learning so much from your group that it gives me strength. I love how you're all posting your plans and how you're feeling, as I'm struggling with most of the same things. Stay strong and keep kicking ash. Sounds great to me JT. Unfortunately I am still sick, so I do not have the energy to go to the gym, or do much of anything. Would love us sticking together over the weekend.
