I notice some people missing, long timers - question for you

17 years ago 0 204 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Ahhh, great question. Allow me to rebut! For me, this site gave me my life back. On the other hand it tends to be a trigger point. I mean, I used to love to smoke when I was on my PC. The ashtray on the left of the screen and the coffee on the right. My computer was an excuse to smoke one after another. So I have to be careful on how much time I spenn on my PC. But I just go on this site to give back what so many has given me for my quit! Hi Marie - It always surprises me when I see posts that are so similar to ones that I had posted before. When I first quit, all of us were posting almost daily - We formed quite a bond going through the awful times together. As time went on, I had less issues to post, there were less milestones to celebrate and I believe my friends were posting less too. Fortunately, I was able to get e-mail addresses for some of these people through IM. Even if we don't talk every day or post every day, the people that went through this with me have been/are very important to me. So anyway, congrats AGAIN on your 1000 days. On to 2000! (Boy, I can't wait till I can say that about myself!) Crave the Quit! Marie, Yes, this is extremely common... and it's also very normal for you to miss seeing them. And many people come back, either to check in and say "I'M STILL SMOKE FREE!!!" or to say, "I'm trying again!" Others may be embarrassed that they went back to smoking and then come here and change their names so nobody will know who they are. That actually happens more often than you think. So just because you're not seeing somebody you care about, doesn't mean that they aren't here posting and still quitting... they just might be doing it under a different name. It's normal for you to miss people who leave, but that's the nature of this site. People come and go as they need to, and many who were unsuccessful on their first tries come back to try again... so remember those names of the people you cared about early in your quit... you may very well see them again, hopefully very soon! And then there are those of us who NEVER leave... even if you want us to! :p Crave the Quit! Bubba, Thanks for checkin in. Sorry to hear about your trip to the hospital. We hope you feel better soon! Just another example of the hold this addiction can have on some. Danielle __________________________ The SSC Support Team
