I am putting an end to the stress cycle NOW!

This post will inspire not only you, but other's who will be experiencing the same stress temptations. Thank you for sharing. It's ironic, we smoked when we were happy, we smoked when we were sad, we smoked with friends, and we smoked when we were alone. We smoked to relax and we smoked to wake us up. All of these trigger's were our life....and are still our life. We are still going to be happy, sad, tired, and stressed. That isn't going to change, and personlly I don't want it to change. I want to still live and experience my life, just not surrounded by a cloud of smoke, and I think that's what you want to. The truth is, if we continue to smoke, we will shorten our lives and then we will miss the experiences that are waiting for us. Hang in there!!!! I posted earlier this morning about my dad.. it's in the withdrawal section -- I've had 3 hrs to really think about the stressors in my life and how I come so close to ending the quit over this happening and that happening. There are ALWAYS going to be big stresses and little stresses..and right now I'm surrounded by major one's.. HOWEVER, I am NOT smoking and that means I do have the strength not to light up. I AM stronger than the nicodemon and I am pledging to myself that I am STOPPING this crazy cycle right NOW! I cannot change what is happening around me.. I can only just ride the wave of emotions and I do know for a fact that I will come out on top. I have to remain positive that no matter what is happening around me that I have my tools , crave cart, my support system here and offline as well to help me. So as of right now I am rising above the cycle..I am getting off of this rollercoaster. What ever happens, happens.. but IT will not wear me down and take me onto the path of smoking! N.O.P.E.!!!! Thanks for 'listening'.. I just had to express it.. Denzil, I wasn't really waiting for a good time to quit. I figured I could just do it regardless of the daily stressors - ranging from the smallest to the big time major leagues.. Then I found that stressors intensified with the quit and I, well, kinda went buggy, what with already being in a depression. I was on this horrible emotional rollercoaster for the last 5 days and I sat myself down and simply said...STOP! No matter what the stressors are you have no control over them -- THEY will always be there and the only control one has when it comes to the stressors is how we deal with them. We have choices and grabbing a smoke is not going to make any difference what so ever! I came to understand that I have to go with what is happening and ride the waves of emotions as well as distracting myself so that I NEVER go for the cig -- call on friends, come online and reach out for support, pick up a book, throw in a dvd... and my list of tools to get through go on and on and on. I am now well equipped .. And this is the 1st time in my life that I can honestly say that I DO have control over me.. Maybe not over the events of the stresses.. but much better coping mechanisms and look out after me and how these stresses effect my daily life. As I said in an earlier post -- I feel much more empowered now and at that end, now I can concentrate on my quit and have zero need for the nic as a fix :) Windy.. were you trying to insert a heart? if so, no hon it didn't work :( Jan.. thank you sweetie -- and I'm here for you as well. You too are a very strong woman - You had a momentary slip and now you are back on track and I applaud you my friend. Well, I've still been able to keep a handle on my stressors. Have not allowed the cycle to begin again - However, it has still been very difficult. I went to the hospital to visit my father (dying from lung cancer and just went through a surgical procedure a few days back). When I was a smoker, I would have gone in to see him and then after 10-15 minutes would have raced outside to have a cig. Now as a non-smoker I didn't do that. I kept running the same words through my mind over and over again>>> I CANNOT CONTROL WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH MY DAD... A CIGARETTE WILL NOT CHANGE THE EVENT IN FRONT OF ME... I WILL GET THROUGH THIS... And I did get through it! When I got home I took a long hot shower, used all of my personal care products to make me feel better, made a cup of coffee, grabbed my crave cart and the remote! Watched some CSI's I had on tape and had a lovely few hours. I DID IT! No smoking, under one of the most stressful times of late,,,Therefore maintaining the break of the stress cycle. *huge sigh of relief* It made me feel free ... Thanks gonnadoit.. trying so hard with the stresses! As you know full well the stress of quitting really intensifies even the most minor stresses and bang you suddenly seem to be all ready for a smack down kill someone kinda fight! ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! But with all that I was going through about a week ago I just realized that I had to break the damn cycle or else .. or else.. who knows what I'd end up doing! And yes, I'm actually quite enjoying the animations.. it just one more thing (tool?) to keep me busy as I wander around this site, reading, pondering, questioning and answering. You, WOW! are doing a fabulous job with your quit! So inspiring, so successful! See you 'round :) http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o304/Monica58/heart.gif[/IMG]][IMG]http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o304/Monica58/heart.gif[/IMG] Monica58 My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 396 Amount Saved: $171 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 3 Mins: 50 Seconds: 11

Hey Windy! Thanks,, trying real hard :) And you're right, it will get easier as time goes on, but right now I'm literally forcing myself not to get all tangled up in that web of the stress cycle. It's work, but it's SOOO worth it! Hope you got that patch on... by the way, what mg. are you using now? I'm on 14 mg. I was going to start at 21 mg. but, me being me..lol, I wanted to challenge myself ..like THIS isn't enough of a challenge! LOL! As for the animations, I could tell you how to do it, but I think it would be easier if we met up in chat. I'm still new to it, but think I could talk you through it. :) Have yourself a wonderful evening ...
