Hi All, I have been travelling in my little blue car for 2 years now. The journey has been a very long one but, in the long run, much easier than I expected. Learning to drive is hard at first, but, like anything, the more you get used to it the easier it becomes. I waited too long to learn to drive this car....40 years too long!!! Like most learning processes, its much better to do it when you are young and not so set in your ways. I admit to having had days when it would have been simpler to turn off the road and take a break in a motel. All along the way there were stresses and strains which made the journey so much harder...a car accident, moving house, our daughter divorcing, and many more... Good reasons to drive into the side and give up? NO!!! The thing is, had I done that, it would have been a lot harder to get back on the road again. Maybe Id never have set off again. I'd have remained stranded in my Addiction. Those stresses and strains still would have been there whether I was on the road or not! Someone once said it takes about 2 years for the road to become more even. Maybe its not so much the route you are on that is bumpy, but your driving skills that improve to cope with the bad road. Gradually the road becomes so much smoother because you can handle the car better. It does not happen suddenly or at any set time, but builds up until you know you will stay on this road to Freedom for the rest of your days. I know that I am a very competent driver now, and life is so much better being in control. It has led to a healthier life, hopefully a longer life and to FREEDOM! I want to thank this site, the Mods here, and all the friends who helped me way back then and up to today. I dont post often now, but I never forget where it all started. You are all wonderful, and I owe you my life! To all new voyagers on this road I say...Stay Positive. Look into the distance, to the future. Read, Post, Learn, and put all you have learned here into practice. Know that YOU CAN DO IT! Whatever it takes, just dont smoke!!! Never Look Back, The Future is Ahead!!! Love Lolly. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/25/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 730 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25,554 Amount Saved: 365

I'm am just so excited and proud for you Carol. :) :) :) Can it really be 2 years...WOW. It's the best feeling ...so rejuvenating, no fighting any more, just your own life back without the monkey on your shoulder. I love your car analogy - so true. I used to use a walking analogy....like when you are walking up hills, you think you have got to the top...and then there is another peak to get to. Well, you are standing on Mount Freedom right now. You are there. Enjoy the view! love, Lizzie :) :) :)

What a cute analogy, back when I first joined this group that damned car hardly ever worked due to program failures so many a day I had to get out and walk, like you up and down that bumpy road with winding turns and steep hills and look where we are today!!!! At the TOP of mount FREEDOM!!! Carol Im so very happy to come here and celebrate this milestone with you! It is an awesome achievement to go two years totally smoke free after smoking as hard and as long as we did, but I never doubted you, I knew from your very first post that you were a person of character, you had a plan and you were aiming to do it, and you did!!! You paved the way for your husband to quit and here at the SSC you tucked many newbies under your watchful wing and taught them well. You have been a beacon and mentor to this site and I hope many of the newbies take the time to search back and read your posts for insight and inspiration. CONGRATULATIONS MY FRIEND~ENJOY THE FREEDOM!!! I'm so very proud of you, Love Lin Four years, eight months, six days, 15 hours, 46 minutes and 54 seconds. 34253 cigarettes not smoked, saving $6,850.63. Life saved: 16 weeks, 6 days, 22 hours, 25 minutes.
