Anyone quitting 3/27?

17 years ago 0 357 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Bobbi, Hi and welcome to the site!! I quit 3/11 but we will all be here to support you regardless of your date. It's nice to have newbies like me and veteran quitters around so you can get different perspectives. This site provides some wonderful resources and exercises to complete before your quit so be sure to take advantage of them. I have never posted on any other site but find myself posting daily here. One thing I would recommend is to think about some rewards for each day during the first week, when you first quit that seven day mark feels 7 months away. I bought a home tooth whitening kit and started using it day 1, I bought new exercise pants on day 2 and on day 3 I spent the whole evening on this website and didn't do a lick of my regular evening routing (I even left dirty dishes on the counter overnight!). So plan some special treats to help those first few days, I'm finding the more I invest in this the less I am willing to screw it up! Keep us posted and good luck!!!!!!!! ;)Dupe My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 58 Amount Saved: $9.6 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 8 Mins: 20 Seconds: 47

Hi bobbie,, my quit date is the 18th. that is on the chantix program,, scared as can be as been heavy smoker over 30 years,,, but have been able to really cut back past couple of weeks,, from 3 to 10 cig a day and that is pretty good, hoping in 3 more days i wont want any,,,, they stay on your mind tho, i breathe deep a lot,, drink 5 or 6 bottles of water a day,,, suck on hard candy, took empty pack of cig,,, filled it with chewing gum,,, laid it beside favorite chair and when i set down and want a cig, pick up that package and all i have is gum,,,,so i chew it, and cut back some like that,,,,, good luck on the 27th dont know if you heavy smoker or just now and than, but whichever hope we both and all here can lay them down,, before they do more damage,,,,, best of luck,,,,,,,,

Ky women, Thanks for your post! Yes I am a heavy smoker, smoked for 50 years, stupid ones! Am excited but scared for my q day, but from what I read that is normal. I have been recearching everything possible for two months now, have done lots of work sheets etc. Better prepared then I was the last three times I tried to quit, which was cold turkey and never again that way! Also weight gain was why I started smoking again, this time have a better plan for that. I will be out of town starting tomorrow - March 23, I have ill parent's and have to make several trips to help out with them. Will be back on soon as I get back and getting ready for the big day. I love this board, have tried some others but this is the most responsive with support. Also joined the March-Mallows here ones who have quit in March. Is great! I am from Indiana. Thanks again, much luck to you. Please keep in touch. Bobbi :)

Bobbi, Welcome to the March Mellows, I am a March person myself. Congratulations on your decision to quit. I know you will make it this time, with your determination and this great site, how could you go wrong. I sincerely hope your parents will ok, I will put them on my prayer list. Keep that motivation, try doing the exercises on the left of this page, I know it helped me. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Good Luck :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 366 Amount Saved: $70 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 13 Mins: 14 Seconds: 16

Hey Bobbi, Congratulations on making one of the most important decisions you'll ever make....To be a Non Smoker. We're all here to help when you quit and we'll be here for you throughout the process. We all have different Quit dates but we all support each other. Bobbi, 1. get ready to drink lots and lots of water when you quit. It helps with the cravings and flushed the poisons out of your system. Lots of water...Okay? I don't know why it helps so much with the cravings but it really does. 2. Get lots of hard candy, gum, sunflower seeds, toothpicks, and whatever else you want to use for that "hand to mouth" thing. 3. Line out some things you can do when a craving hits i.e. take a quick walk, clean something, brush your teeth, something to get your mind off of it. 4. There will be those things, times, or places (Triggers) that you'll associate with a cigarette. (For me it was my computer that triggered a cigarette) Avoid those triggers early in your quit but if you can't avoid them, like I couldn't avoid using my computer, then change those triggers as much as you can. For me, I had to clean and rearrange my desk, put a candy jar on my desk, pictures of my family, and a nice candle. Things like that. 5. It will really help if you'll work the workbook over on the left hand side under Quit Program Tools. 6. Read a lot of posts here on this site and YOU post as much as you need or want to. It really helps. Stay in touch with us and we're here for you all of the way. You CAN do this.
