Aruba, if you want to quit, you need to get rid of the cigarettes that you are smoking. As long as you are taking hits, you will be going through the ups and downs of withdrawal. You will be constantly putting more nicotine in and then withdrawing all over again.
Cold Turkey can be done...lots on here have done it. But I agree with Danielle...work the program tools and figure out the best plan for you.
