Hi Stormy. Wondering how you are doing today. Please check in and let us know how you are. You can do this one day at time. Remember you have people who care. Stormy. I understand your frustration very well. Hang in there. It does get better. I remember being where you are and posting how tired I was of fighting the uphill battle. Keep climbing because you are going to get there. Five minutes at a time if you have to. It really is getting better and better everyday, but for some of us it takes a little longer before we begin to feel better. We are all different but you are NOT alone. There are several of us who felt just like you do now. Be patient with yourself. You smoked for many years. 70+ days really is small in comparison. It takes time to "get over" smoking. You are doing great. Go look in the mirror. There looking back at you will be a non-smoker. That non-smoker is YOU! Congratulations! When is the last time you rewarded yourself? Sounds like it is time for one. 74, 75 days is a huge accomplishment. Hi stormy, When you said that you are tired of chewing the gum; do you mean nicotine gum or regular gum? I relapsed after a 100+ day quit. I was doing NRT for about 60 of those days. After I made the break with the nicotine lozenges, I really started to feel better. By the time I had gone 40 days without any NRT, it was getting easier. I made a stupid choice and smoked a cig at my daughters going away party. She graduated from college and moved to New York City, so I was very stressed. It was a fatal decision when it came to my quit. I know that it gets soooo exhausting having that nicotine NAG. It does get better. You will regret it if you smoke. Look forward to the day that you will be truly free. HANG TOUGH! Might I suggest a few sessions of talking therapy? My workplace has a confidential employee assistance program and they were able to hook me up with a substance abuse counselor -- 4 sessions at no charge. She had never worked with a person quitting cigarettes, but the principles are the same. She helped me find ways to deal with my anger and my mood swings and to help me relax. It was awesome. Stormy, Please take the advice you have been given and keep it close. The members are right and close to your 100 days sometimes the craves come back for one last try in full force. You do need to get out those coping mechanisms and distractions and push forward. Remember, smoking has a habit of masking problems and when you quit they become more noticeable. Please check with your doctor to rule out anything medical. Keep Strong, Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.
