Day 5 - fearing the weekend

18 years ago 0 962 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Embg - A great thing that I did for myself on my first weekend was to prepare. I went on this site and copied alot of great inspirational posts that other people had written printed them out and started my quit journal. Now when I read something I like - I do the same. I must admit it's getting pretty big - Then I found a quiet comfy place and read them. When a crave hit - I read some more. I just took it easy. It's very important for you to find some time to refresh, rest and relax. Things can be quiet here but the monitors are always here - 24/7 so if you need some help just promise yourself that you will come here and post - and post again - we'll be there for you! Drink lots of water - take some long walks - just DON'T SMOKE. Hi embg, Don't be afraid to fail and disappoint everyone; don't disappoint yourself. This quit has to be for you. It is your life, your health, your clean hair, your fresh breath, your clear lungs! Weekends are the hardest for me also. I try and sleep late and go to places where smoking is not even thought of..inside malls, the library, the grocery store, thrift stores, etc. You will do fine if you make a conscience decision not to smoke. You are stronger than those feeling inside of you. It is the nicodevil dying a slow death. Laugh at him; Stomp him out! Just look at that meter; 108 death sticks not inhaled into your beautiful body!! awesome! Hey EMBG - Write yourself a note that says "I WILL NOT SMOKE THIS WEEKEND!" and put it in a sealed envelope at work. Over the weekend when the crave hits you, think of the envelope and how stupid you're going to feel having to deal with it on Monday morning if you smoke. I did that quite a few times early in my quit as a weekend strategy. It worked for me. I could see the note in my minds eye and it helped me keep my quit. Good luck whatever you do. DON'T SMOKE!
