Hi N2K, the fact that you were here with me (our quits are a month apart) has made my quit more fun, given me much needed strength, and your research has provided interesting information (who could forget those penguins from Ohio, huhhhhhhh). This has been quite a journey and just so proud we beat the addiction. It is a very very tough one. Congratulation!!! Do we know your reward? Was it Las Vegas? That mask story amazed me, altho', I'd probably wear one, too. So how about a virtual glass of champagne and a toast to our success! Cheers, n2k, proud of us, Janet :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 398 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,972 Amount Saved: $1990 Life Gained: Days: 52 Hrs: 13 Mins: 38 Seconds: 32

One year ago today a lady was on the fence about quitting. She wished and she washed and she vacillated and worried and agonized and read and studied and questioned and learned. Then suddenly she made her decision and the rest is quit history. Over the year Ive watched her take her first tentative steps in giving support as she worried she might say the wrong thing yet still wanting so much to help, to pay it forward. Just like prepping for her quit, she learned and gained confidence. Her posts now are just marvelous; very helpful and insightful with an obvious abundance of compassion for those still going through the struggle. Around the first of the year she went through some personal struggles that took her from the SSC for a while. If not being here was a challenge, shes never told me. What I have heard from her is not her fighting with the demon, but her giving care and comfort to others who happened to be in the same hospital, also visiting and watching over loved ones there. She found her support outlet without a computer. That doesnt surprise me one bit. For those interested, here is the thread that started it all: How it all began N2k, you are, without a doubt, the premier Nic-Slayer. I consider it an honor and a privilege to start your anniversary thread. Congratulations on one year smoke-free. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Hey girl (in my best southern twang)... I remember your first post here so you better believe I was hellbent to be here for your first year celebration. It's hard to believe a year has passed. You have handled this quit with such an awesome attitude...(and had me laughing more than once when I really needed it). It's been great having you around this forum. Congratulations on your first year! I know you're proud of how far you've come... and I'm soooo proud and happy for you too. Don't let this milemarker pass without doing something special for yourself :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 564 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,293 Amount Saved: $2013.48 Life Gained: Days: 59 Hrs: 18 Mins: 56 Seconds: 5
