Hi Riverdale, sound like you're having an interesting time with setting up the new office, i feel excited for you. I can relate to the decision thing, i often question myself & have to 'double take' watching what i say. It's a bizare feeling that i still havn't got used to. I put it down to new found confidence we develop as non-smokers, being incharge of our destiny rather tham the nicotine steering us. Riverdale, i often wonder as a non-smoker... what decisions have i made that i wouldn't as a smoker & ...am i content in my new life from these decisions.. it helps restore my confidence & puts everything in perspective. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 539 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,491 Amount Saved: $3503.5 Life Gained: Days: 77 Hrs: 7 Mins: 40 Seconds: 20

Phillip... I hope you are feeling better and I am sending up prayers that you find some inner peace and comfort today. It doesn't matter if you believe in Prayer or not because I do and I'm the one sending it up for you. :) This is such a trying journey at times. I know it makes us stronger, wiser, and better people but the road to getting there can be so difficult at times. Hang in there, friend. We are here for you. Phillip, There is absolutely nothing wrong with being who you are. You add value to this site. We are a diverse group here and I believe that is what makes this suport group successful. What works for me or you may not work for others and vice versa. Diversity is what makes the world such a wonderful place. We are each allowed to be who we are. It is good that you realize what you need and what you don't and are totally comfortable with your decisions. That shows strong character. Last I checked, that was still a good thing. Rob. I am learning why I have such a hard time with my quit at times. Since quitting, I have turned into this emotional mush! Never was that way before but now I am. Comes with the territory of the new me. I am in the process of developing coping skills that do not require the crutch of the cigarette. It is a long process and is taking me a long time to accomplish. However, I am making progress. Whether others here realize that or not is irrelivant. I also agree with your concept that others have a rough time too and either don't post or handle it in different ways. Doesn't really matter. I have also had people remark about me making posts this far into my quit about having cravings or wanting to give it all up. Guess what. Too bad. If I need support I am going to reach out for it. Know why? Because that is one of my coping mechnisims that work. If someone feels I'm just seeking attention (mentioned earlier) too bad! They can just get over it. So back to you Phillip... If people don't like what you have to say, Oh well. You do what YOU have to do to get through this quit. What matters is that we do not smoke. It can be hard, it can be easy, it can be whatever and people can call it whatever they want, I really don't care. All I care about is not ever lighting another cigarette and putting it to my lips ever again! THAT is what I care about. *Sorry, you kind of hit a nerve. I had a disturbing conversation earlier. Thanks for letting me rant. :) Just for the record... Phillip and Rob... I think you are both awesome and I'm glad you are here and I'm glad that you share the difficult times. Reminds me that I am NOT alone. My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days

Rob, sit down. Are you sitting? Good. You're absolutely correct on all points but one. You OK? Survived that? Good. :) The neurophysiological aspects of addiction have been going on for over a decade. Started out by slicing up brains of dead critters, now it uses PET and fMRI scans on living people. But you're right that it is still relatively new. They've just barely scratched the surface; just enough to realize how little they know. A crave my strike us at any point until we die, regardless of what we call it. OMG! Why am I having a linoleum at this late date? You're not unbalaced, Rob. Actually, you're probably a lot more balanced than many. Phillip, don't worry about what others do, think, or say. You do what is right and best for you, the others (me included) can take a flying leap if we/they don't suit you. You and your quit have the utmost priority to you. Take care of you. What fantastic news Philip, you sound so much happier already! Now you know it is all you and nothing but you doing this quit and you have the strength to carry on. I'm so pleased for you.
