You sound so much like me!! I was feeling what you feel, plus I could NOT got to sleep, or STAY asleep...even while taking prescribed sleep meds! I talked to my Doctor, and she gave me Wellbutrin (anti-depressant), and it has help GREATLY! She also changed my sleep meds, but the first few nights before the Wellbutrin took full effect...the sleep meds still didn't help! Please understand...that I have taken Wellbutrin & Zyban previously when *trying* to quit, but they just didn't work! But, this time...they have really helped with the irritability, and aggressive impulses! You might want to ask your Doctor for something to help calm your anxiety from the quit! Hope this helps! God Bless! Well, just want you all to know that I had a very rewarding moment last night. I went to the gym because I think exercise will alleviate some of this depression and irritability. I got on the treadmill to run. Now, I've never liked running, and I didn't expect to go very long without having to stop. Because when I would jog in my neighborhood, I literally could only go one block before I would have to stop. Well, I jogged for nearly a half a mile without any problem. I could actually breathe! It was an amazing feeling, and I actually enjoyed it. I guess I didn't like it before because I could never do it thanks to those nasty cigarettes! So I am feeling pretty good about myself and about the future today. I plan on going again tonight, but this time outside. Enjoy the fresh air! Thanks again for all your support. Your advice was very helpful and I will continue to carry your words of wisdom with me. I'll check back in soon, with even better news, hopefully. Love to all-JLH My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 63 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,268 Amount Saved: $252 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 10 Mins: 14 Seconds: 54

Thank you all so much for your support. Thanks for worrying about me Phil. I think I will be okay. Today is a little tougher than yesterday actually, but I am looking forward to going home, cleaning up the house, exercising a little, eating a nice healthy meal and watching some football. Don't worry about me smoking. ALl this other mental crap will hopefully go away with the new way I am going to treat my body, thanks to all of your advice and support. This really is an amazing support group. I thank you all. And good luck to all of you also. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 61 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,234 Amount Saved: $244 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 7 Mins: 27 Seconds: 56

Thanks Phil and Deli.....last night was honestly the worst night since I quit. And I'm 2 months into this! I don't understand. I thought for sure it would be gone by now. Today isn't much better, but I have a lot of work to keep me occupied. I am going to the gym after work today, hopefully that's a good start. I feel like I've been complaining too much to all of you lately. Thank you for everything. I'll check back in tomorrow and let you know how tonight went. Thanks again. Much Love-JLH My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,248 Amount Saved: $248 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 35 Seconds: 42

I smoked a pack a day, occasionally more. I have been smoke free for 2 months now! Honestly, I am not having cravings too bad- staying away from cigarettes is actually quite easy. Here is my problem: I have never in my life been so irritable, had such road rage, and low self esteem. I have been worrying about things like my boyfriend leaving me, my friends not liking me, being fat (I'm not), I'm unintelligent, etc. I have never been this unhappy with myself. I know this has something to do with the withdrawals, but I can't tell if this will eventually go away, or if I'm really like this and I just never knew it because smoking always curbed it. I am feeling really depressed and down on myself since I quit. Has anyone else experienced it this bad? I also have TERRIBLE road rage. I keep waiting for all this to go away, and I feel like it's getting worse. One more question: When can I expect my lungs to clean themselves out and start coughing up all that tar and other crap that I've heard so much about? Thanks so much for the support.....this site helps :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 61 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,220 Amount Saved: $244 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 6 Mins: 17 Seconds: 5

Riverdale Man, Thank you so much for your support and advice. I like the yoga/ meditation idea. I have actually been thinking of doing something along those lines. Knowing that it helped you so much is reassuring. It's also nice to know that maybe I am not totally insane, that it's the smoking that has done this to me. (Damn cigarettes!) This site certainly helps, and people like you will continue to help me through one of the toughest times in my life. I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks so much. Hi jlh, Been shouting at your loved ones? Feeling agressive? Confession time!!! me too! My poor boyfriend - gets it in the neck most of the time. If I lived with any more people, they'd probably get it too. But, I am getting better. If you have noticed a difference in your moods since quitting cigarettes, then it makes sense that it's the withdrawal doing it to you. And I'm getting better. I've had two days now, where I haven't lost my temper. (Cor, I sound like a nutter!) We'll get through this. I've noticed that jumping on my bike and going for a ride helps, or going to the gym to get rid of that extra energy. We have to do something practical, I reckon, to ride this bit through. But I am positive that it will pass! Good luck - hope with all my heart that you are feeling better! Deli

Hi jlh, Just stopping by, to check how you are today! Great news about the gym - running half a mile, without any problems? Excellent. I'm impressed. I can't run to save my life! Rowing machine, for me - still sat down!! Hope you're still enjoying the moment! I will take a leaf from your book and run this half a mile!!! Wish me luck! Deli xxx
