Dear Congratulations on 6 months! I wondered how you were doing.....so thanks for stopping by and keeping us posted. As usual it seems like we are always going through almost the same trials so I relate to you always! I am sooo proud of you for staying strong and smokefree. I often hear from smokers....oh I quit but my mom got sick, I wrecked my car, I got divorced....yada yada yada. I am soooo glad we have learnt from SSC that it does not matter.....ya still gotta deal. Stay Quit and stop by now and then. Hi, I am checking in to say I have been smoke free for 6 months today. Some of you will remember me and some of you will not know who I am. There are so many new people on here now. This quit has not been too bad, I guess because I really wanted to quit. I still have good days and I won't say bad days, but days that I wish I was not thinking about smoking. I don't want to smoke ever, I just get that urge to feel smoke going down my throat, which I wish would never happen. It is not as strong as it used to be though. I have made it through all my stressors without smoking, the strongest being that my favorite Uncle died last Sunday. He had been sick, but no one had said that he would not recover, so it was a shock. Also a friend of mine who is also a work buddy is leaving town and I am not very happy about that. Her and I were the only two women in a very small office and we got along really well and had a lot of fun together. So work is going to suck now. Okay well I don't sound very upbeat do I? Just wanted to make a point that you can get through anything without smoking. Don't expect the urges to go away overnite is the best tip I can give you. I told myself it could be a year. I think the more realistic you are the easier it is to handle the craves. I wish everyone here old and new the courage and determination that you need to kick this habit and addiction. PS: My husband is still quit too. He is at 5 months now. on 6 months - Fantastic Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... I remember U :) 6 months already??? Good lands! Congratulations to you! Please accept my condolences for the loss of your uncle. I agree the more realistic you are the easier it is to handle the craves. There are NO GOOD REASONS TO SMOKE. Not even one. That's the truth. One need only accept it. Pass along my kudos to your husband too for 5 months. 2 winners :) All the best~ 2 My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 324 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,146 Amount Saved: $1620 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 19 Mins: 58 Seconds: 54
