Cigarettes Not Smoked

Just read your latest post. You have made me realise how selfish I am just worrying about silly cigarettes when so many people have so many more problems than I do. You make me feel very humble and you should be very proud of yourself. Do keep going and do keep posting. Lots of hugs and luv from England. Gonnadoit, I'm so sorry, I have a sister in law who is bipolar and does not take her meds either, the DR. told my brother they don't take them because they enjoy the highs and forget the lows. This is not easy but you do what you can, you have to take care of yourself if you want to be able to take care of others. Don't think about smoking, it won't help, it'll make matters worse, you know this, you've been through it. Now get help with this, seems to me you're the one handling everything on your own, no one is superwoman, even though we like to think so, we're not. Alright Gonna I'm sending you positive vibes. Let us know how you are, promise you'll post before doing anything you will regret.....Marie

still alive and well--and, more importantly, smoke-free. the 19 year old is still alive too :quest: went to church and am and now making mac & cheese, sesame chicken, cabbage and garlic bread. An interesting combination, but smells good... Thanx for the prayers and good wishes. You guys are my lifeline at times! {{{hugs}}}

My 19 year old will be the death of me! She is the middle child of 5, diagnosed bipolar. Several weeks ago she announces (proudly) she is pregnant. The father likes to use her as a punching bag. We call her boomerang. She comes home for awhile, goes back to him, wanders around town, then back home. She won't stay at home because house rules for her are that if you live here you take your medications and see your counselor and psychiatrist. She is not on meds and engages in risky behaviors. Every cop and bar in town knows her! Currently (so she says) she is not using alcohol and street drugs (her form of self medication). HOWEVER, she is manic as all get out! We can always tell when she heads that way, she talks very loudly and fast. She will stay up night after night with little sleep (last time she painted her RENTED apartment UT Vols orange---she did not get her deposit back when she moved!) It is such a shame. This child is a straight A student without effort. She is drop-dead, model georgeous. She cannot hold a job for more than about three months. Last time, at a fast food restaurant, a customer in a car pissed her off and she tried to pull him through the drive-thru window to kick his a$$. Her antics, while tiring, are often, in hind-sight, entertaining. As a mother I feel sooooo guilty. I love this child more than anything/and I hate her. :gasp: Shame on me! :( When she calls me at work, I cringe. Sometimes I won't answer and let it go to my voicemail. There is generally a cussing from her. She blames me for everything, yet I am the only one who is still there when the going gets rough her. She tells me she hates me ( I have had to have her involuntarily committed several times since she was 14-when she was a danger to others or herself) Anyway, I have ranted enough...today I bought her some groceries and delivered her to her current residence. She had not eaten since yesterday. I wanted to smoke sooo bad, but I did not. Hard to be proud of that, you know. :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/23/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 542 Amount Saved: $80 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 2 Mins: 44 Seconds: 43

I have a bipolar daughter also who is 16. It is a big challange to love someone who has that particular disease. The hardest part is that you have to decide what to take and what not to take. Naturally you take more abuse than a normal mother would put up with, but there does have to be a limit somewhere. It is really hard to not smoke when they are ranting and raving. I used to smoke as she cussed me out and threw fits at me. Now, I don't know how to handle it. It really is tough and I am right there with you. There is a special brand of lonlyness that only mothers of bipolar children know. I understand. Gonnadoit, Hang in there! Try to find ways to release your stress. Some members find it helpful to keep a journal, seek professional help, meditate, do deep breathing, get creative or get active and sweat it out. Keep overcoming those cravings and rewarding yourself accordingly. Danielle ___________________________ The SSC Support Team
