Hang In There... Great Job RD.. The last time I tried to quit, I found any excuse.. especially stress to go for that "one" just to relieve the tension... well you all know how that goes. You will be so proud when you hug your mom.. Keep that picture. dawghouse

Had you gone to the store and tried to puff it away, you wouldn't have been able to. That's the problem with smoking: is that it often provides a really short-term solution to a long-term problem. The solution does match the problem. RD Man... i dunno what you're talking about. A broken washing machine is like the end of the world to me. Right up there with car problems. I can definantly see the stress in that! Go ahead and vent! Hurskt... That probably shouldn't have made me laugh quite as hard as it did. LMAO <--I'm sorry if that's wrong!

Hi Rv man way to go, you must be so proud of yourself, you really coped with this one. Sometimes the little things get blown up out of proportion because we still feel so vulnerable it's better for you to vent on a washing machine than smoke I say give it a good kick. Lol Hope everything works out :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 56 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 854 Amount Saved: $224 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 12 Mins: 22 Seconds: 13

Riverdale Man: These are the posts I LIVE for!!! The huge, overwhelming and catastrophic problems I can deal with! It is the really stupid and petty everyday problems that throw me for a loop! And I do not believe I (and you) are the exceptions, but probably the norm!!! Those are the things that, to me, are more upsetting than anything. Today I picked up my 10 year old after work. An elderly lady came almost to a complete stop in front of me before making a right hand turn (I'm no spring chicken, mind you). I yelled, for the benefit of myself and no other, "Turn you old hag before I rear-end you!". My daughter very meekly asks to use my cell phone. When I ask her why she tells me she wants to call her daddy because I am scaring her!!! :8o: I am a police officer and this child's mother---my response---"You should be afraid!" :gasp: I have been apologising to my daughter since then...but it goes to show you...we are all, after all, human! My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 77 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,896 Amount Saved: $616 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 0 Mins: 25 Seconds: 5

WOW I can post from my office now. Oh Boy! I can do this from work as well as home. That makes me happy! Funny how sometimes the really small things can create joy and a huge sense of pleasure. Have a wonderful smoke free day! I am so stressed. Had to wait the whole day for some not so great news. No, it's not about my health. It is really stupid it is about a washing machine. The saga of this poor machine has been going on for more than a month. There is just one thing after another and I am stressed. I would like to just say get another and it is too much. EWUGH! And the stress is not about the machine, fixing the machine or how this happens. The stress is about time and money. My anger at such a silly thing and what a waste of time. What a waste of money. The freakin machine is 5 years old and needs to be rebuilt. No guts... So all of this is really about my frustation, irritation and lets call it for what it is, my anger. My coping mechanism for dealing with all of this was to go and smoke. The smoking has been taken away and I am left writting into a computer, just ain't the same as a smoke. However this is a lot more healthy. So writting, posting and waiting it is. I am hesitant to post this, there are so many bigger problems here at the SSC and this is very trivial. I am p^&(4ed because my cloths have been ruined and my time spent and money spent dealing with something so trivial as a washing machine. I have not smoked. I have to give myself credit. I have not stomped to the corner store bought the pack of smokes and puffed away all of this. So it sits as a cloud with me and I get to feel it dissipate as I think of giving my mom a hug. If I just don't smoke she might not ask why I smell so bad. My mom, God bless her, is in advanced stages of dementia and sometimes she recognizes me and sometimes not. I know the last time I hugged her at Christmas she said I smelled bad. That was one of the final blows to my smoking career. Sad to say I had to hug her before I left again as a smoker. I know that I will be able to give her a hello hug as a person who does not smell like an ashtray, when I see her again. So that is my vent. I apologize for taking space and I needed to clear the air and the fuzz in my head. Concentration, focus and persistance. No smoking here in Riverdale this afternoon. Riverdale Man, Gees, can I relate. I miss smoking the most when I want an excuse to escape from lameness ;-). Either lame people or lame problems.. crap, now I have to just deal with it.. arg ;-(. I'm thinking about creating a new relaxation ritual.. I'm still dreaming it up but I do believe it will include an small glass of wine by the pool or something. I think I might do this ritual nightly whatever it ends up being. I'm still searching for replacements for some of these "moments". Hang in there, you did good! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 189 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,698 Amount Saved: $1323 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 12 Mins: 1 Seconds: 48

Hi Phillip. You've heard the saying "the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked" Well.... the only trivial vent is the one that isn't posted. This is why the site is here. To get us through the times we cannot do it on our own. We have all had "little" things that set us off. I wanted to smoke yesterday because someone said something about me that wasn't nice. How old am I??? It happens to all of us. I called a quit buddy and when they asked what was wrong.. said NOTHING. I felt so silly. You aren't alone my friend. I understand the frustration with things that don't work. I once bought a new lawn mower because I couldn't figure out how to change the spark plug and couldn't find anyone to help me. Your mother will be proud when you tell her you no longer smoke. You have an awesome quit there and are a positive example to those of us traveling with us. Hang in there. The frustration will pass.
