the empty feeling

18 years ago 0 610 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I have this restless, empty feeling that lives with me now that I have quit smoking. I try and satisfy it with food sometimes. It doesn't go away. I try and satisfy it by chewing on a straw, but, it doesn't go away. I suck on hard candies, chew gum, eat breath mints, but, so help me, that feeling won't go away. It goes away when I can finally take a tylenol pm and go to sleep. If I have to live with this feeling for 60, 70, 80 more days; I don't know if I can hang on. I want to be a non smoker that doesn't crave or think about cigs all the flipping time. I need something to let up for a while. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi everyone, I made it another day. I had 3 2mg lozenges today. I am starting to crave the lozenges instead of cigs. I've had a problem with nrt in the past. I was on nrt for a solid year, then relapsed for 3 weeks when my mom died, and now I am back on nrt. So, for that year, I never really was free from nicotine addiction. I want to be free and feel normal and comfortable. So, I cut down from 4mg lozenges to 2mg. And I used to do 4-5 a day. Now I do 2-3 (and chew on straws in between!) I am not going to worry about when i stop the nrt. It will only stress me out. But, I do have a goal, (I think goals are important) to cut down to only 2 a day for two weeks, then one a day for a week, and be off nrt when this box of lozenges is gone. I have to take the next step and face this quit without any nrt...enough is enough, huh? Everyone gave me such good advice and insight..I thank everyone of you by name. I'm through with hell week. YIPEE!!
