I smoked for 11 years and I've had a HELL of a time quitting!!! Yet, I've seen people on here who smoked 2-3 packs a day for 40 years have an easier time than me (or at least appear to) so no, I don't think it matters.
I think what makes the difference is your attitude towards the quit (are you quitting because you have to or because you really want to), whether or not you choose to dwell on smoking, romanticize it in your mind and think about it longingly everyday, and if you see smoking as an option later down the line or not. So, I think it's all about choice. I do not think that you can have an EASY time of it, but I DO think that we can CHOOSE to have a harder time by dwelling on smoking all the time and having a negative attitude towards quitting. I personally chose to have a harder time by thinking about smoking all the time, re-introducing nicotine into my body by smoking "just one" and having a negative attitude towards my quit in the beginning. I know that I could have saved myself a lot of heartache of I'd figured all that out sooner... but I guess we all figure it out at our own paces.
Crave the Quit!
