Mrs. Payfer, While I extend to you my condolences on your choice to smoke, I also offer congratulation for getting right back at it. You know that each of us here will give to you all the help and support that we can from this end, but the choice always remains yours. As for why you crave more in your own home, could be many things. The privacy it offers, so know one will know what your do. The security that this is your place and you can do what you want. Or it could be as simple as the fact that the place smells like the remnents of your old habit. You may need to wash all the curtains, and fabreeze all the carpets and furniture. Maybe even a couple of times. Every one tells us that smells are the strongest triggers to memories that there are, and we have a lot of memories of smoking. Glad you are back with us, please don't go away again. Hi, Mrs. Payfer. Everybody has already said it so well, there's not much I can add. You did have a third choice: neither drink nor smoke, just deal with the situation. I know that's easy for me to say, all safe and warm over here, but it is true. That said, I'm glad you're back, glad you stayed sober, glad you learned a lesson. You aren't a loser. A loser wouldn't have come back, 'fessed up, and started over. That takes character and guts. For that you should be very proud of yourself. I know we are. :) Stay as close as you can tomorrow. Let us know how you're doing and how we can help. Mrs. Payfer, this too shall pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably at home you don't have work to distract you. Plus you probably had more freedom to smoke at home, too. All that's ganging up on you. I remember grade school. Bullies would gang up on people, too. You've been through this before. You did it then, you can do it now. Hopefully, you're sound asleep right now and won't see this until tomorrow. :) Hang in there, Elizbeth. You can do it. Hi Elizabeth Glad you come to this site. Don't be so down on yourself. you can make it through this addiction or whatever ya wanta call it. I blew it to over a stressful situation and thought I could smoke a few to keep the edges smoothed out but it doesn't work like that. I've just been quit this time for 24 hours. Been gone all day and when I walked in the house it just stunk. I'm sure thats the way we smell to people who don't smoke. Thats one good reasons right there, besides being able to breathe better and live much longer and having so much more energy. Smokin"s just a really bad deal. I've smoked for 40 yrs but this time I'm gonna make it ..........bad situations or not...........and you will too, if you really want to. It's just a one day at atime deal for me, You gotta be real strong and say NO NO NO, GET OUTTA MY FACE.................. Good luck to ya, I'm here if ya wanta converse

Mrs. Payfer, It's been said that quitting smoking is the hardest addiction to break. I don't know if that's true or not as I've never been addicted to anything else (except maybe food and the SSC :p ). I can tell you that this is the hardest thing I've ever done. It's also taken me many tries, much anquish and plenty of physical and emotional trauma to make it. And all that was before this, my forever quit! Regroup and recommit yourself to the quit. Determine that you will fight the crave when it comes. Take control of your life back. Plan how to cope with stress and cravings without smoking. You've some experience already with behaviour modification...draw on that experience. And one trick that works pretty good. Next time you feel like giving up...come here and post for help...and wait for 3 responses. If the urge doesn't pass...wait for three more. We CAN do this...I promise it gets easier! Can I just ask why you only had a choice of drinking or smoking??? How about throwing in a 3rd choice....taking a walk....soaking in the tub....going to bed....etc..... if your only choices are drinking or smoking, you are in for some tough times. no matter how tough the situation, you really do need to find some new ways to deal with stress, cause both of those choices actually ADD to your stress. Grab hold now and get determined and committed...make a plan that keeps you from getting in these situations........I KNOW you can do it Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1488 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 59,520 Amount Saved: $8184 Life Gained: Days: 194 Hrs: 2 Mins: 5 Seconds: 33
