Yesterday I forgot it was 1 year...........

........ago I quit a 2 pack a day 45 year smoking habit and I did it cold turkey. Hell week passed and then heck week and then blah week and then I found out I had throat cancer and as an added benefit I had diabetes and high blood pressure. During 9 weeks of radiation and no voice and liquid food I gained to date 40 pounds. I also found out I could never have so much as a glass of wine again or a cold beer or a big hot fudge cake. All that time I felt so sorry for myself I wanted my drug of choice and that was a smoke. I cried and whined, got mad and yelled at my kids, let my house get a mess and copped a nasty attitude when I wasn't crying but...........I never so much as took a puff of anyones cigarette. Not a puff. Many of you will never know how grateful I am to you. Though I never posted everyday I read and reread all your trials and joys and it kept me going when I wanted to throw in the towel and give up. On this Valentines day I want you to know how much I love you and how much you mean to me. Hugs always, Barbara~ My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 366 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 14,672 Amount Saved: $2269.2 Life Gained: Days: 48 Hrs: 9 Mins: 4 Seconds: 25

hiya bleu! ~huggggs~ I'm so glad you dropped in! You are on my mind alot so I love to hear how you're doing! You've been a inspiration to alot of us. You are special! Congrats again on a smoke-free year! Melissa, the beauty of this site is it works for the talkers and the silent type, the whiners and the macho men (& women ;) ), the cold turkeys and the warm turkeys. In other words, their is no such thing as selfish here. Everything is given freely out of love and concern. We all take what we need and leave what we can't use. We give when we can or when we feel compelled. Congrats to you also on your one year!
