Lizzie, 1000 days is awesome. I'm sorry I'm late seeing this. Like you, I don't come around that much anymore. I sure do remember your early days though. I'm proud of you, girl. You've come a long way. LOL....I always love seeing you Brits talking to each other....in that language you have... See you in the summer at the Oval with luna for a bit of leather on willow?!! What the heck??? I'm not sure I WANT to know.... Congrats, Lizzie. You done good. ;)

Hello fellow quitters! I've spent plenty of time here in the past, but have not been around for a while. Somehow normal life resumes and you know longer think about smoking - hard to believe that, huh? I just wanted to drop by and let you know that quitting was probably the best thing I have ever done, that it does get better and better, that you reach the point where all your smoking memories are replaced by non-smoking ones. The only reason I know of today's milestone is that I put it in my diary about a year ago. I am so relieved to be free of that all-consuming addiction and relish every day of FREEDOM. So here it is : 1,000 DAYS Lizzie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/23/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1000 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15,008 Amount Saved: 4500 Life Gained: Days: 97 Hrs: 8 Mins: 24 Seconds: 27

Thank you Jan and Brent - you will be here too....just keep putting one step in front of the other. LOL Melanie! We are 2 continents separated by a common language. Pen is of course referring to my local international cricket stadium....not sure what the leather and willow were about though....hummmmmm :eg:

Yes, Pen is perfectly correct.....but it was fun making you think. In the UK, it is 'the sound of Summer' and evokes images of long sunny afternoons, tea (ie food) in the pavillion, warm hoppy beer ...and we are still in January, sigh.

Doh!! Lizzie et al?!!! (exasperated) A poetic term for a particular sound from our beautiful summer game. The outer casing of the cricket ball is made from leather and cricket bats are historically carved from the wood of the Willow tree (very whippy now steady on there Mel!) hence the sweet thwack of the ball on the bat is generically referred to as "leather on willow" and is endearing to the game. On balmy summer afternoons that sweet sound can be heard drifting on the breeze from fields afar. Now I know that that explanation disappoints a few of you but you will have to put up with it 'cos that's the truth! Penitent d611
