How´s it going?

Good morning Red

I have a 54 year old friend, we will call her "G". G is diabetic and has been for a while, she has PTSD and an anxiety disorder. Although diabetes is progressive it has not stopped her from adopting a seven year old. She plans to live a good long time. On top of all that the child has allergies so there is that juggling to do to.
I'm only mentioning this because I will talk to her so I know what you are going to go through. You know me, I'm an information junky. I once had a scare because prednisone will push those borderline over. But it turned out one of the medications I was taking for Arthritis or infection at the time was the culprit. I had numbers in the tens (canadian system). So you have your work cut out for you. You know they quit calling it sugar diabetes since insulin use is the actual problem. I would imagine your biggest chore will be balancing sugar intake to available insulin but I'm sure you can do it. That forum sounds like a good thing. Just sift out the people that are there to spread horror tales and you know there will be some. Any way you know I have faith in your determination.

Thanks Davit,

For taking the time to respond. I know it is hard for you to see now. I have osteoarthritis for years plus had a back surgery years ago but this One has got me scared..I should be able to do this, it's just going to take some time to figure it out and balance things out thats all..Diabetics is a progressive illness so what I am doing is trying to do is slow it down with diet and exercise and meds if needed. I am going to talk to the doctor about adding meds to the mix at our next visit if my numbers don't come down. I may ask for a referral to see a specialist at that time too, a Endocrinologist. My doctor is a internal medicine doctor working in primary care. So he is a jack of all trades but is not be a master of this one. I redo my A1c test again in mid December before my visit with him.  My last A1c was 6.9.  I did a test 30 days prior to that and it had come down to 6.1 so right now I am trying to figure out why it went up by making changes to my diet to see if I can get it down again..It is trial and error at this point and lots of testing my blood sugar at home to see how the food I eat effects my blood glucose levels..

Thanks for the the offer of help. You have already helped by listening and posting with your words of positive support and good cheer..I just may take you up on that offer again sometime soon..

I'm sitting here with an expanded screen so I can see to type because I want you to know how much faith I have that you will learn to control your diabetes. And in so doing life will be better than it is now. 25 years I have lived with Arthritis and the key there is that I have lived. I never gave in and you won't either. You can't can you, giving in is for sissies and I've never known you to be a sissy. A very close friend of mine is Diabetic and has it under control. In fact she is thinking of coming to visit next summer. More than I could do with my arthritis. Please keep me informed and if there is anything I can do don't hesitate to ask.

Today was a good day..I have been researching a new diet and have gotten a lot of help and suggestions from members of a new diabetes forum that I have joined. I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic a few months back and have been having a hard accepting this fact..There I finally said it, now that feels better. I am diabetic!

I have been trying to work on this problem in steps and stages and the first step is acceptance. Now I actually feel like I am beginning to make some progress again and that feels real good to me right now. I am moving in the right direction and gaining some control over my own health issues. I am learning from others who have this illness, they are sharing their experiences with me and helping me gain some control over my physical body again.

There is Hope and I Will learn how to do this..

Davit,
You are so blessed to live in such wonderful community..It sounds like you have got plenty of support..and everything is going to work out just fine..Thanks for mentioning that you may get to a point where you will not be able to post for a while. If I don't see you posting I will not worry then. I am sure you will miss us just as much as we will miss you. Who knows maybe one of your neighbors can post for you once in a while.

Davit Great news..

Gailernia,
It's good to get a little rest. Good luck with your paper and class..Stick with the cbt it does help.  Also I wanted to mention that they also have a sister site to this one called The Depression Center, you can find it at the top of the forum page under More Help. I used that program before I came over and started using the panic center here. One of the Educators named Ashley suggested that the panic center might help me too, so I use both ..Their is not a large active support group in The Depression Center but the program sessions are excellent..So the support group is really not needed at all but I found the informationto be invaluable...

Just thought I would let you know about it incase you hadn't check it out already.

Well people you may lose me for a while. My other cataract is showing up now. It is a bit hard to see the screen. So far so good if I make it bigger. I went to town and paid my hydro bill. Next one isn't for two month. Filled my car with gas for when I have to get someone to drive me to the hospital. Bought a bunch of essentials. I'm set. Even at it's worst I will still see shadows. The store owner went out to the pumps to read the numbers because they are small and black on black. Sevens look like ones. If I need anything from the store I can phone it in and someone will deliver it. People are real good that way here. So back to work making spaghetti sauce.

Still melting, going to get slippery.

I wanted to let you know my A1c is 5.7. All my tests are within normal for me. Some are even better. There is nothing the matter with me.

Everyone.

I've been free for years and this happens. It tells you something. It tells you how strong core beliefs can be and how strong negative thought can be. Well I know what set this off so now it is just a matter of taking the time to pile on the positive and I'll be okay. I know how to do this. So do you. Difference is only that I have more experience so will bounce back faster. This is as far as the setback can get. Back to positive thought, back to normal. Thank God for CBT.

I took yesterday off work and my sister was with my mom. My sister lives with me as well. My mom is able to do things, at times it is just like caring for a child. I use my phone mainly be on the web, as I hate using my laptop. I'm hoping to feel different eventually. I'm wiring on this program. I'm trying to make changes in my life. I know I've lost focus and I'm hoping things improve to at least finish my class.

Gailerina,

So did you stay in bed all day or did you get up and move about..Just wondering how you managed to stay in bed all day if you are your mothers caregiver and have a job outside of the home too..Did your sister stand in for you.

You know it's ok to stay in bed for the day and if you can take some time for yourself once in a while a little self care can go a long way when it comes to making a person feel better.
