I know you're out there. Thanks for suggesting continuing the quote daily, since there's isn't much involvement in posting, but I know people are reading...
I know a person who wants to pass out every time she has blood tests so she has to lie down. She accepts that this is a condition of the test and does it anyway. I have hard veins from too many blood tests. Some times it hurts, but I go anyway. Sometimes that is just how it is so we do it anyway, and some times it is fine.
I have faith in you, because you are being very positive about this. You will still be my hero for trying.
I really appreciated hearing from all of you. Hugs, it seems like we have opportunities in life to brighten someone's day (or to make it more difficult). I will endeavor to choose the former whenever I can.
Davit, I have to go back to try again. It was the last goal on my list and I was so close. It is REALLY helpful to be able to have a specific person in mind that I can help. My 10-year-old boy said before he left for school "Mom, imagine that it's me who needs help". With him, having said that, I really felt that I had the courage to go through with the process.
Ashley, it's nice to see you here. I love a good cry - especially happy tears. I understand that there were medical reasons why they wouldn't let someone who was crying donate. It was a learning experience.
Take care until next time - beautiful people that you all are!
Great to hear from you and so glad to hear you are doing so well. That appointment sounds unpleasant! A bit of a cry now and again can really offer great relief...it really should be more socially acceptable to get upset; isn't it only human? Anyways, glad you got through that challenging appointment and glad to hear you are coming from such a positive perspective after all that.
Well that was an unwanted piece of exposure but you survived. From a person who has had many blood transfusions and I'm only here because of them. I want to thank you for donating. I don't think people realize what a gift this is you give. I can't donate so I have to give of myself in other ways. When you donate think of me. When I lost my spleen over thirty years ago I bled out. I owe a few people for the blood I have now. Last summer I needed two units when I had an incision bleed real bad. In my eyes you are a hero.
I'm glad you are better and it is real good to hear from you.
Nice to hear from you, and wish the news was more positive. Imagine how society has changed, that you wish to give something of your physical body, to help another in distress, and being refused!
Some day you'll be in a space where you'll understand.
My petty dilemma, was going to a store which has a promotion for free bagels on your birthday. Stating it was for mom, which was yesterday, I was told "no...that was yesterday"!
Who are all these stupid rules protecting, and how do these people go to sleep at night
I am taking a moment to appreciate the fact that I have been feeling really well for some time now. I credit all of the techniques I learned here from all of you.
I'm still working on one of my goals! I still am anxious about donating blood. At the end of August, I made an appointment and went to the Red Cross to donate! Unfortunately, there was some confusion about my eligibility (due to foreign travel). I had checked in advance and knew that I was eligible but the person helping me did not think that I was. She ended up going to get her manager and I ended up crying (from relief, from frustration, from being anxious). When she returned, she said "Well, you were right - you are eligible, but now you are upset, so you can't donate today". Whoops.
So, I will try again. Anyway, I was thinking of you all and wanted to see how everyone was and to let you know that (except for the above story), everything is really good!
