Losing it and stress

Lack of proper sleep. REM sleep doesn't happen unless you get three hours in a row. You can get twenty four hours sleep but if there is not at least three in a row it does little for your mind even if it does good for your body. If you nap, keep it as short as you can so at night you sleep sound. SSRI's make you sleepy so you won't waste the chemical they are replacing. This is why they have to be adjusted after 6 weeks. Too little and they don't work, too much and you sleep too much. But if you get enough sleep in a normal person you will replace that which you are using. Seratonin is used for thought so the more thought and the more worry the more you use. Fighting anxiety involves a lot more thought and worry than just letting it happen. Relaxation skills use less. Relaxation and positive thought allow you to use less seratonin so you don't need to replace as much. And if it works for you then there is no need for the pills. Too much Caffeine too late keeps your mind ticking even if you are asleep and this is not good sleep then. Coffee in the morning can get you mobile so you are not trying to play catch up in the afternoon. This is okay, but if it makes you irritable and affects your work then cut it back and a good idea is none after lunch. You need good sleep.

Thanks Davit.
This makes a lot of sense. What causes chemical imbalances?

I've always been scared that the anxiety will lead to losing my mind or going crazy.

I understand anxiety now, you have to feel
The anxiety and welcome it. So that next time it comes, it won't be so bad and your body won't treat it like important so it will go away.

Thank you. You are very knowledgeable. Hope one day Ill be as knowledgeable as you in managing my anxiety.

Anxiety and panic disorders are not mental illnesses at all, they are mental conditions. They can be caused by chemical imbalances. The chemical imbalance would be an illness. But if you had good days in a row then the imbalance if there is one must be small.

You are fighting the anxiety, don't do that. Let it happen and it will go away. Remember what I said, anything in memory stays where it is accessible. And you have accessed it. It just means it was not buried good enough. It is too soon to expect not to have set backs. It takes time. The most important thing you can get from this is a memory of surviving this for future reference. With that memory you can cover the anxiety next time so it is not so bad. And the next time it will be less. And so on till it doesn't matter if it happens. Treat it like indigestion, it will go away. No matter how bad it is, it will go away.

Hi everyone, just hoping someone can shed some light on what I've been going through.

I've had a good two weeks, no panic and manageable anxiety. I've felt like myself again after two months of anxiety. Today I feel real off.

I've been real stressed lately since I have my sons birthday and my sisters baby shower coming up in a few weeks. Also I'm starting my new job and my kids went back to school yesterday, so I have a lot on my plate.

Today, I feel like I'm going to lose my mind an because anxiety was said to me as a mental illness I fear of losing my mind and being depressed. Although, I have no reason to be depressed as my life is good and everything is just fine.

Can anyone give me some feedback of being stressed and overwhelmed can lead to this feelings?
