Fixing Things(With a Mind that still needs fixing)

11 years ago 0 4027 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
As I tried to cost a porch while at the doctor, I found out that having illegible writing, and not attending to detail is something that is hampering me.  Waiting two hours with my parent was probably harder on her, but I was able to use the time to start to patch my notes.

It's amazing how being forced to do something in an environment where there is nothing else to do, can be productive.  I often use doctor's appointments for tasks like this which are challenging at home where there are distractions.  I had to study at the library since I couldn't get things done at home, and my focus improved.

I thought washing the curtains into the washer would be easy, but the washer isn't working.  This machine has a mind of it's own, so I'll have to check the inlet hoses. If that doesn't work, I think it did a cursory wash, and I'll take advantage of the sunshine today.

It's amazing how much information is in the manuals I've never read!

I'll try that KT.  Restorative sleep is important, but I'll have to wash the dusty curtains.

I use a bulldog clip to keep my curtains closed and stop that pesky bit of light that comes through between the two curtains :)

I got fed up with light peeking thru my blinds, so I switched the curtain with another that might be more opaque.  Also, I watched a youtube video on how to make a valance, and made one of out of a cardboard box.  I don't think the genteele southern US belles would be amused, but I to sleep tonight, and that box over the curtain and blind will block the light, for tonight.

I guess I could try making the list, but sometimes the lists get long, or I "forget", lose the list, or bigger things interrupt, or I don't have the skill level, and it just sits, when mood overcomes me.

Write a list Hugs! "To Do" lists are my best friends. Sticky notes too. With your list, you could do it room by room (as I did with my cleaning and organising list), day by day, or by priorities. You could divide it into "Top Priority", "Important" for those tasks that aren't as urgent, and "Time Fillers" for the little jobs. Then each day, you can choose from your list depending on your energy levels. Even doing something small is rewarding when you get to cross it off.

Davit, crochet is something I have never worked out how to do. I'm quite good at knitting, but always get bored mid-project haha. Well done with what you've made.

Kaitie.

P.S. First aid training was something we did quite a lot of at Girl Guides, and although I have all the knowledge, CPR included, I faint every time there is a real emergency! Even when I was the one who was hurt, or there was no blood involved. It's an automatic response which I have no control over. The strange thing is, I have done a few dissections in biology classes at school and haven't even come close to fainting..

It's not that I cannot fix something, maybe my problem is there are too many things going wrong.

As I allowed myself an "off day", since I was so fatigued from patching up the garage from squirrels getting in, I found ants in the kitchen.  Then I realized I have so many things I didn't finish, and the door is sticking, while I need to get working on the porch costs for a contractor.

When my interruptions get interrupted, I wonder if I'm just over my head?

I need some rest to set some priorities, since mom can think of so many things to do, but I have only so much time.  And she wishes things done a certain way, and at a certain time.

Looking forward to trying a new night wrist splint for my busy hands to heal, tonight

The course says you can bring a sewing machine, and mom has two.  I have promised, although with a lot of other things, to set mom's up.  It would a lot better than watching tv for her.  The course is a night school interest course, but there are so many things I "have to" do, like first aid, learn to use lawn mower(should be good for a snow blower too), meditation is at the top of the list

Hugs

Ha ha. I was actually thinking you would fit right in. People do make chicken wire patches for squirrels and use sos pads to plug mouse holes. One neighbour patched the rusted out trunk on his car with spray foam sealant.
About your door. If it is a panel door made in sections has the glue come undone and the section with the handle sagged.
This is common because the panels aren't glued in so if you lean on the handle too hard it will sag. You can tell by prying it up. On the other hand if it is the hinges you will see black stuff on them and a space that shouldn't be there. The frame should be shimmed and can't move. Now a days they are foamed into place.

Kaitie, I can sew, I can crochet and I can knit but none really well. I used to make my own moccasins out of tanned Moose hide and canvas. Same heavy canvas as on the wrapper for my dog toboggan. I also in later years sewed a horse harness. That I did a good job of. Used to hand sew my dog harnesses. But then there were no computers to occupy my time.
