And this is why I'm here at SSC where I can mingle with the members and read their many posts that let me know that I am NOT the only one going through life's trials and tribulations...sometimes it seemingly comes one thing after another! Ya'll have no idea how much I personally appreciate you sharing these kinds of stories! And...I still don't smoke!

Sadie,
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to you! You won that battle with Nicodemon. I find the most difficult battles are the ones where you are all alone, and you know that no one would know if you smoked. The whispers of Nicodemon tell us "just a couple puffs and then you can go back to your quit and no one would be the wiser."
You did good! Strut your 20 days quit with pride...when you fight battles like the one you describe...can we say VICTORY!!!!

Jef,
Can't say I've heard of this particular quit aide...but there is nothing new to the concept. It's called aversion therapy.
Pavlov, a Russian physiologist who is best known for discovering this type of conditioned response, won a 1904 Nobel Prize for his research. Thankfully, since that time, we have learned that POSITIVE reinforcement is far and away more effective a method for changing negative behavior.
There is no quick, easy, painless method for getting rid of the cigarettes. Furthermore, I personally would be reticent about putting yet another chemical in your system...especially given the serious health troubles you are currently experiencing.
The most powerful force you have within very easy reach...is your brain. Everyone here has said it...Attitude is the key! You get that from reprogramming your thoughts and actions to obtain the results you desire. Sounds simpke? Oh no...you have to go after every single solitary defeatist notion that comes along.
It's work, hard work. But boy is it SOOOO worth it!
Whatever you decide...SSC and all of its members are here to help when you are ready.
