has anyone heard?

Interesting revelation!

As others have said, nobody knows how the future will unfold. Our best bet is to make the most of what we have and to enjoy life one day at a time!

Let's stay optimistic................we cannot worry about things we cannot control!

Myth or Fact

Members,

Myth: I wish I were like everyone else and ask for help.

Fact: Many people do not seek help because they do not feel safe disclosing their symptoms due to the stigma they fear may be associated with having a mood disorder.

Topic: Resolving Disputes in Relationships

Members,

When people live and/or work together, they often disagree. This is normal and healthy as disputes and disagreements are common events that lead to problem solving and compromise. Here are a few tips to help you along in the resolution of your next dispute with a loved one:

·         Don’t make it a war: This means do not enlarge the dispute by telling and/or involving friends or family. Not only does this project an ill image of your partner to those involved but it can end up by dividing or fracturing bonds in families and /or friendships. In almost every instance, the details disputes between you & your significant other should be kept between the pair of you.

·         Mutual corners: We’ve all seen it on TV, husbands & wives yelling each other using every name in the book. And just as we’ve seen, name calling accomplishes nothing but further escalation & hurt feelings so keep it clean ladies & gentleman J

·         Time to get creative: Likely, there is more than one potential solution to the conflict or dispute you are having. Start brainstorming together and hopefully you’ll be able to find a solution in which both parties win, neither party loses or wins but compromises or one party loses knowing that next time around they will come out the winner.

How have you resolved your disputes? Any tips?

Topic: Did you know?

Members,

Prolonged and untreated panic disorders can sometimes cause side effects like social anxiety, depression, and agoraphobia. Since panic attacks can occur during social situations, it can sometimes cause someone to develop performance anxiety or social anxiety. This is particularly true if the attacks frequently occur during times of great stress for the patient. Another possible reaction to these triggers can be depression and lack of confidence, as the person continues to fail in his endeavors. The onset of these side effects not only have an effect on mental health, but can also make recovery even more difficult. As such, it is critical that the problem be diagnosed and treated as early as possible. That way, the damage it can do is kept to a minimum.

Expressing yourself creatively

Members,

Anxiety and panic attacks can often be isolating and talking to a therapist or friend about how we feel can be difficult. For this reason, many have sought alternative ways to expressing themselves. Some have found solace in personal journals or distractions such as music or books. Others, have found peace by expressing themselves creatively by…

  • Sketching or Drawing
  • Watercolors or Painting
  • Composing a song
  • Participating in a play or theatre troupe
  • Drawing cartoons or animations on the computer
  • Writing poetry, short stories or scripts

Has expressing yourself creatively helped you? Please share your experience!

Myth or Fact

Members,

Myth: Anxiety is not a common response that the body experiences.

Fact: Anxiety is a natural response to a stressful or dangerous situation. In this kind of situation, the body reacts causing the heart to beat faster, the palms to sweat, and the mind to race. These are normal responses to stress and fear. Those suffering from anxiety disorder can experience this response at any time and it may or may not be associated to a stimulus.
