Tomorrow Arrived Today

I now have been sober for 9 days and have never felt better in my life. I am new here but like you all I am an alcoholic. Powerless over booze I am. If I have one that is never enough. I would make horrible choices when drunk. No more, I feel great. I have been to 5 AA meetings in the last 9 days.

I?m another newbie

Sober 9 days, no expert at all. Hope I never drink again, I know for sure today I won't. I have chosen to live today rather then die. The best slogan I have heard is "no situation has ever been imporved by having a drink off booze" AA member. I know full well that I am powerless over booze and that my life is un managable when I am drunk. For me I always drink alcohicly, to get drunk. Today I refuse to do that. Wish you all the best.

One month.

Got my 30 day Chip last night. Best 30 days of my life. Now I am mentally ready to clean up the mess I caused over the last 25 years of drinking.

Bottom Line

My name is Bert and I am an alcoholic. I am 33 days into my first experience in 25 years of sobrioty and I have never felt better. It apears to me based on what you have said that 1. You are powerless over alcohol and that your life has become un managable. If this is the case and you are ready to admitt it I suggest that you get to a meeting ASAP. The follow ship of AA is very helpful. If you are a true alcoholic, I am not saying you are, that is for you to decide. But if you are your chances are less then average without help.

Introduction from new member

Congrats on the 10 days dry. I drank the same you you did, one was never enough. Always wanted more. It is a rough road ahead speacially if you are still doing the same things that you did in the past. If you you can live the same life style with non alcoholic beer that is fantastic. All the best to you.

This is scary!

The book that was mentioned it call the Big Book http://www.aa.org/bigbookonline/ it is a good read. I recomend everyone to jump right to chapter 5 read that and decided, do you want to start living or keep dying. If you want to live go to chapter one and read it between attending as many meets as you can. I assure you that after your first meeting you will not feel alone anymore.

This is scary!

For me it took 25 years to admitt my sickness. One drink for me was never enough. If I have one I want 2 so now I choose not to have the one. Not everyone is an alcoholic you are right, for the people that can have a few and stop, good for them. For the ones like you that have a few and every so often have too many, well that choice is up to you if you think it is an issue or now. For me I drank to get loaded every time I drank. My life was was out of control. The Big Book is a good read and the program saved my life.

One month.

Yesterday was my 45th day sober. Never tried to quit before, drank heavy for 25 years, last 7 years was BAD. Hit rock bottom March 9 started looking up on March 10. So far I far I have been to 40 meetings, trying for the 90 in 90. I have a little catching up to do now that I am half way through. 5 meeting is wasy to catch up on. As for being in control, I have come to realize that I was in control before thats why I drank cause I had no idea how to manage my life yet believed that I was in control. Now I look to my higher power to be in control. We can't do it without God.

I am alcoholic

We have what is reffered to as the Phenonenon of craving. We have one we want 2 if we have two we want three. One drink I get Thirsty never enough. From what I seen we all have it. I have found talking with others have really helped me. 11 weeks sober today. I go to an AA meeting every day, because I drank every day. I joined a group, I have a sponsour, I am working the steps. I know that today I am going to stay sober sharing on this site helps. Being in contact with others that are sick from the drink like me keeps me sober.
