Today is day 7 smoke free for me, I just found this site this morning and could use some help and encouragement. I have been smoking for 35 years started at age 16 and I'm now 52. my husband quit 2 years ago due to health reasons and I was not able to do it at that time, but due to my own health concerns and many of other reasons it is time for me to quit. I started taking Chantix two weeks ago did not set a quit date and 7 days ago smoked a cig that tasted like burnt rubber and said to myself I'm done that was my last cig. I know that I have a lone way to go but as far as concerned I will never smoke again.
Thank you for your support and encouragement. I have read through the program here and i have a support group of family and friends to encourage me. the challenges that having are getting better now on day 6 then they were on day one and two cravings are less frequent and shorter in there duration, I'm still fighting with the mornings and after meals. the positive for me is knowing that I can do this after 35 years of smoking i thought that i would never be able to kick this addiction.
I have been smoke free for 1 week now and found that day 3 and 4 were harder then day 1 and 2 for me but is getting easer at the end of the week.hang in there you can do this for your self and your family. Good luck.
Thank you for your encouraging post, and yes it does make me feel proud. I'm still on my quit and the cravings are getting less frequent and shorter in duration but I find myself wanting to replace cigarettes with food any suggestions for this? If the worst that happens is that I gain a few extra pounds it will be worth it to be free of my addiction and I can always loose weight.
This is my ninth day smoke free and I would be happy to be one of your quit buddies. I have posted in this group introduce yourself under newbe if you want to read more about my quit.
Glad to have you as a quit buddy with help from each other we can beat this addiction. And yes mornings are the worst I try to do something to keep busy and distract my mind from the cravings the same for after meals. As mentioned in this thread in my original post I'm using Chantix but I'm tapering off due to side effects of bad muscle cramps and should be off by Friday. I'm still eating like mad but will give myself until next week to deal with this.
Congratulations on your quit I don't think it is important weather you count it as day seven or day nine the important thing is that you are back on tract to quit. I'm also a newbe and have copied my orgional post for you to see. If you would like some support from two other new quitter's look in this thread Introduce yourself under the discussion looking for a couple of quit buddies by Isabella. good luck to you and hope to hear from you soon.
