Congratulations Breather on 6 weeks! I also found an improvement after the 6 week mark....not that I am much past that now. I will be cutting my 7 mg patch in half after this week. My Dr. said he was very much in favour of the patch but they should have gone at least 1 more step down. The health unit here said it was perfectly ok to trim them, cut them...whatever works. Actually, I start trimming them down a little at a time before step down. Sorry, didn't mean to ramble. Have a super smoke free Christmas and again, way to go! Jo

I was also part of a research group that received 5 weeks of free HRT, not quite enough but it certainly helped the pocket book. My original quit date was my birthday Oct. 21 which I had set 4 months previously and prepared for the big day. The group did not meet until Oct. 26 and I decided that actually quitting was more important than the actual date, so I put it off for a few days. I felt that I was in withdrawl for the 2 weeks BEFORE I quit.....very strange. It was almost a relief when that special day came. I was actually looking forward to it and although I still crave, I find it manageable. When I really think about a crave, I find that it is nowhere near as strong as when I was smoking and needing to smoke when I couldn't. This web site was one of many suggested by the group at the health unit and I started to read, and read, and read. I did not sign up right away but felt such a connection with all of these wonderful, helpful and supportive people that I finally jumped in and feel right at home. Thank you all. Jo

Hi everyone....I have not been around much for the past 1 1/2 months as it's been a real hard go. My Mom passed away on Jan. 6 (still having a problem with this one), my dog of 15 years had to be put to sleep, I spent 3 days in the hospital which turned out to be stress and anxiety, and I was in a small car accident. Having said all of this, I am proud to say that I have not had one puff N.O.P.E. I am beginning to see just how strong I really am. Anyway, you were talking about rewards and for me that is usually a little "retail therapy"......but I have the biggest reward of all coming on the weekend....a new puppy! I am so excited. I am getting a little Westie which is being shipped from way down south and my daughter & I are going to drive to Duluth Mn. to pick him up at the airport. My sweet husband thought it would do my daughter & I good to get away for a couple of days so here we go.
Welcome to all of the new members and congrats to all that have had milestones. It feels good to be back. Jo

Hi Kara - nice to meet you. Wow 45 days already, you are doing super. We all have those times when we wish that we had kept our mouths shut. I think most people understand, to a point, how hard this is and will not take it personally. I do a lot of really deep breathing and it sure does help. Remember, that is exactly what you did when you were smoking, inhaling and exhaling, now it's just with good clean air and it really does help to relax you.
Keep coming here to post as there are a lot of wonderful and supportive new friends to help. Jo
