not smoking

Jnine, Set your mind to it. You sound pretty confident, and that's a good start to beat this addiction. You KNOW it can be done. Wishing you luck. Here's to sheer stubborn willpower

33 years I smoked, and at one time I liked it too. As the years progressed I tried not to think about what it was doing to my health. Common sense finally won out. Here's to sheer stubborn willpower...and lots of it. How did I know it was time to quit?

I knew it was time to quit when: I was wheezing everytime I walked upstairs The sinus infections were non stop The morning smoker's cough lasted ALL day The nicotine started staining my moustache My mother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer I wanted to quit more than I wanted to smoke Do this for your health!!! Your lungs will thank you. Beat the Demon and Winning!

Understanding the posts. Blankets and firemen. Hey whatever helps keep the quit! Glad to be here too. I never expected to see THIS many people. Maybe we can hit the tobacco companies hard. holy crap i started

Rethink this quit of yours. Its important. Stop now before it becomes I week smoking, then 2...we all know where that leads. In the long run you'll be glad you did. Smoking solves nothing, just makes things worse. Nope. No fireman here! Just a guy with a little help to offer. Monica - you had a slip. Just treat it that way. No more, no less. If you take the attitude "no big deal", you're not giving that slip the importance it craves. If however you treat it is as a catastrophe, all of sudden it becomes huge and a real obstacle to overcome. I didn't slip during my quit, but came damn close. I tried to treat it as an annoyance. No more. No less. I didn't give it the attention it craved. Hang in there and remember...no big deal. Crabbychops???? 6 days quit. Oh yeah, I could justify the name change. Lots of deep breathing and a good support system. Hell Week is over

Hell week. What a fitting name for that first week. And you made it. The next week shouldn't be as difficult. Feels good not to smoke, doesn't it? Every day get a little easier.
