Hi,
My name is Theresa and last thursday I decided it was the day to stop smoking. Once again I ended up at the doctors because a common cold turned into nasty bronchitis. This is my 5th day as a non-smoker and it is very difficult. I feel like a drug addict! I suppose I never understood what an addiction nicotine is.
I hope I can be strong enough to stop forever. Hopefully with a little help I can succeed.

Thank you parrotlady, I really needed to read your post today. I'm having a rough patch this afternoon, trying like crazy to keep my resolve and strength. You are absolutely right, I DO want the one, but I definitely DON'T want all the others that come with it.
I can do this, right??

Reading posts, over and over again has been by far the most important tool I've used to date. But today, everything I read seems to be doom and gloom. Yup its hard, but dwelling on the degree of difficulty isn't doing anyone of usa any favors.
OK, ok, so its only 7 days for me, but I am DAMNED PROUD of my resolve. Yes its been difficult at times, and not so difficult at others.
So for today, I'm having a self praise party
HORRAH FOR ME!!!!!
Anyone choose to join me?

My dear CobenFan,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
It seems every time I'm feeling weak, looking for that "excuse", you seem to post something that puts my resolve right back where it belongs. You truly are my Knight in Shining Armour! Thanks again.
Theresa :)

Hi, I'm glad I found everyone here. I'm on the 4th day of Chantix and have set my quit date for Monday June 6th. I can't beleive I am as frightened as I am feeling. I have come to the realization that I am horribly addicted and I'm so ashamed of that.
I hope and pray I am strong enough to do this, its so very important to me.
Thanks for listening.

Sorry, I mis-stated the day. My quit date is Monday, June 9th. I will have completed 7 days of Chantix by then. You are correct though, cigarettes don't taste the same. I am trying to be VERY aware of my smoking habits and change them up to make Monday a little easier.
Thanks for your encouragement. Please pray for me. I'm going to need it!
