Congratulations RissaRoo on taking that first step. Taking that first step is difficult, and you are commended on taking that step. You will have hard days, and you will have good days. As far as the crying; I am 27, served 8 years in the Marines (2 in infantry, 6 in Recon), and still cried when I gave them up. They were a lifestyle you were accustomed to, but now we all have a wonderful life awaiting us. Keep up the good work, and I hope everything with your boyfriend works out.

15 days ago, I looked a cigerette and said "You will not be more important than my son!" I didn't even want to take another drag of it. As I flicked it out I let out a little chuckle. My road has not been that bad. A withdraw here and there, but other than that, nothing much at all. I realize now that I am a quitter. I quit so my son, Jacob, will experience life with me other than changing my oxygen tank every day. I now just wait for the withdraw symptoms to catch up with my frame-of-mind of being a non-smoker. I want to thank this site from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful, generous, couragious people on here. It is because of you, I will remain smoke-free and tell my son of my passage so he will not make the same mistake as I did. Whats that old saying "Fifteen down and now just a lifetime of happiness to go." Ok, well maybe it is not a true saying, but hey, it helps.
Thanks Again,
Funk

Fairy, I wish you all the best and good luck. Wait a minute, what am I saying. You do not need luck anymore, you have us. We all care as much as you do about your lungs as you do. We are here for the good times and the bad ones. If you need a shoulder to lean on you can lean on me.

Sometimes that is all we have is our soul. After all, I don't have the desire to smoke anymore. And not wanting to smoke is a good feeling in my soul. I wish that all smokers could see what I see right now in my life; freedom. I was a smoker that said I enjoyed smoking. I realize now that I used to say such things so that I could compensate for smoking. I was so afraid of quitting that I made excusses so that I did not have to quit. Man was I blinded by a truth. The truth was myself fibbing to myself, who am I kidding it was a lie! I want those people to realize that quitting is not the hradest thing to do. I want them to realize that they can do it. That there are people out the to assist them in their quit. That people love a quitter. That I love them and myself now...Love is now in my soul other than smoking.

It has been awhile since I have wrote anything down, but I had a moment of insight last week. My father is an advid smoker, around 2-3 packs-a-day (I am starting to work with him), and we went to watch a cage fighting event. he was smoking in the car and it began to bother me. Once it reached the point of me caughing, I told him he had to wait until we arrived at our destination. My whole smoking existance I believed that when people caughed around me when I was smoking they were just trying to be cocky and arrogant to attempt to tell me not to smoke around them. Smoke really does hurt your lungs. I told this to my wife, who is a non-smoker, and she looked at me as though I was a trogladite. I have lived a sheltered exsistance. Hmmmmm, this must be what they refer to as "The Alcoholic's Moment of Clarity."
I have no cravings anymore, this will not help you though. your carving quit when your bady says it is time to quit. All I can say is good luck god-speed, and we all love you for your decision.
