Fear of Dying

http://www.positivityblog.com/overcome-negative-thoughts/
Death is scary and unpredictable and I know what you mean because at times i struggled with this as well and its hard to just "stop thinking about it" like everyone tells you do. Its just plain hard to do that. From what i have learned on this site( and this site truly is great)and from other reading, the best thing to do is write down your feelings and then question those thoughts. Why are you feeling this way? Why do you think about death? And then come up with ways to distract yourself from those thoughts. I dont enjoy mediating as much as other people, so i do things that keep me busy such as yard work, school work, playing video games that engages your mind in other things. When you begin to have negative thoughts, let those thoughts in for 3 seconds, and then after that think about something happy. Youre getting your brain to redirect  negative thoughts to positive ones. Life has its ups and downs and you will overcome this and will get better if your practice things that will help you. Remember YOU ARE in control of your own mind and thoughts AND YOU control what you want in them. I also am a Christian and praying and knowing God is with me is great as well. Nothing is worth taking your life :) you can do this. having loving people beside you to guide you and help you get through it. help is always great.

Feeling Good

Was able to drive today for 45 minutes and felt great. everytime i felt anxiety or panic coming, i challenged those thoughts and said to myself that i have driven before calm and i can again and that my own thoughts cause those symptoms and that i wasn't going to let the fear in. i put up a wall and i wasn't gonna be afraid to drive.

Fear of Dying

Thats great. Im still considering whether or not I should go seek some therapy as well. Never had anxiety in my life until about 6 weeks ago and its been scary because i never knew what all this was about and its been a challenge to stay positive through it all, but I've read consistently that agoraphobia and panic disorder can all be overcome especially with cognitive behavioral therapy? Its been helpful to ask and talk in these forumns and its helpful to know that other people are going through the same thing and that we are all in this together. We will overcome this all in due time and it will be a great life lesson and journey. I have notifications turned on for this thread, so whenever you reply I'll get to see it! :)

Constant state of panic...

You might want to see if you can escape the abuse you are currently facing. If you can, that might greatly reduce the anxiety and/or panic you are going though now. No one deserves to be abused in any way, shape, or form. So seek help from a hotline or contact the police if it comes down to it. It may be hard, but it will be worth it. Seeking a help of a therapist may also be the best thing to do as well.

Side Note: based on your username (dhrama), did you ever watch the show LOST?

Panic over Terrorist Attack

I know things can be scary and its incredibly sad what happened. I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ as I am a Christian. I do not always understand why things happen, but because of my belief in God, i know things happen for a reason even though i may not know why. try to think about the fact that you are in a safe home and not around danger and remember that panic attacks are discomfort and not danger. I am still working on remembering that and applying that myself.

Feeling overwhelmed at work

I know that a job can be overwhelming, especially if your job involes you running around with some little munchkins. However, remembering that panic attacks can not and i do mean CAN NOT cause you to have a heart attack due to increased blood pressure during a panic, can not cause you to go crazy because since you are aware that you are going through panic means that you aren't crazy because you realize whats going on. You can not faint because of increased blood pressure. Fainting is caused by a decrease in blood pressure, panic causes an increase in blood pressure. Dr. Dave Carbonell, he has a book called "Panic Attacks Workbook" like $15 on Amazon, that has helped a lot with me. He explains to use AWARE technique during the beginning or during the worst part of a panic attack. With this you learn that you can can get through an attack and stop it, which leads us to become less afraid of the next one since we know we can handle them when they come up, which eventually leads us to forgetting about having them and overcoming panic disorder and agoraphobia.
A- Accept. Accept that you are having an attack and let the feelings soar through your body. Accepting the attack instead of running or fighting it can help in the log run.
W- Wait and Watch. Look at what is happening and think about what you are feeling.
A- Actions. Do actions to make you more comfortable. ( Belly Breathing is helping me)
R- Repeat. Repeat the above steps until panic fades away.
End- Realize that all panic attacks end reguardless of what you do or if you do not do anything. They always end.
Find comfort in knowing that they will end.

Panic Falling Asleep

I had a similar problem to you man. I was going to sleep with a week long of noticing these heart palpitations. I was at first nervous about them because i thought that it  was something serious and wrong with me. A doctor visit cleared up that my heart was in fact healthy and normal, however i just thought something was wrong. Everytime i felt a heart palp i would panic and then have a panic attack and it started to happen as i would fall asleep and had several nights of restless sleep. I did more research and found a site that just put it in my mind more than anything that everything was okay. I will type what i found and helped me :
Heart palpitations are harmless and not bad for you. Think of them as just like a hiccup. Annoying but not dangerous.
Accept them.Best thing to do. Accept that you have heart palpitations and that there is nothing wrong with them, they are simply the same as a hiccup. And just accept that you have them and that its not wrong or bad to have them. its normal and healthy.
Accept it and don't fight it by saying " i wish i didn't have these. i wish i didn't think about it" Just accept them for what they are, and what they are are harmless and similar to a hiccup or a sneeze, it will help you to sleep better by accepting them and working with them instead of against them. :)

Panic Falling Asleep

Check out the books "Panic Attacks Workbook" by Dr. Dave Carbonell
and "Hope and Help For your Nerves" by  Dr. Alice Weekes.
Both of these books are great and are helping me towards recovery. Not there let but I am better than i was a month ago for instance.
Dr. Weekes says to use the following technique
F- Face
A-Accept
F- Float (Float through the panic, let it flow through you while you are sitting down, let your muscles go limp and let it flow through you while you thinking about floating through the panic)
T- Time (Let time pass, it takes time for recovery. dont be impatient.

Dr. Dave Carbonell uses a similar technique called AWARE
A- Accept
W- Wait and Watch ( similar to floating)
A- Actions (go LIMP with your muscles and try belly breathing)
R- Repeat (repeat the steps)
E- End. Realize all attacks end whether you do something or not. So try to do nothing instead of fighting it and making it worse

First attack today

This is an important time for you since they just started. You can put them to rest quickly. Read about panic attacks. I love the books: "Panic Attacks Workbook" by Dr. Dave Carbonell and "Hope and Help For Your Nerves" by Dr. Alice Weekes.
im 21 years old. and my first panic attack happened while i was in a movie theatre watching "Get Out" i had the same symptoms. Fast heartbeat, chest tightness and discomfort, and trouble breathing. I had no idea what was going on and that is what scared me. I researched a lot and did a lot. it happened in march 2017. its june now and i still have the ocassional panic attack but they are further apart and last shorter times. Use AWARE technique
A- Accept the panic for what it is, discomfort not danger.
W- Wait and Watch (Hard as this may sound, let the panic flow through you. Do not fight it or leave the situation, let it flow through you and say what you are thinking " my heart it racing " "im sweating" watch your symptoms
A- Actions ( try belly breathing to relax and let your muscles go LIMP. tensed muscles is a way your trying to fight the attack, remember the less you fight or flight from the panic, the better off you are.
R- Repeat those steps.
E- End. Remember all panic attacks end and cause no actual damage other than fear and discomfort. not danger.

Am I having panic attacks?

My first symptom i had from my panic was heart palps. I did some research and realized that they were not dangerous and that everyone has them every once in a while.
REMEMBER THIS:
Heart palps are not dangerous. the most important thing i read was this, accept them. Accept them as if they are simply just a hiccup. Treat them as a hiccup and that its just a part of you and that it is not dangerous! Lemme know if you need more help!
