HI, my name is Allison and I am only 18 years old. I was diagnosed aboyt 2 days ago with a panic attack disorder and was given paxil and visterol. It started Sunday night when I was in the car with my boyfriend. We were discussing the movie Monster's Ball which we had just seen. All of a sudden I got an intense hot sensation running through my body and I started having trouble breathing. I waited just a moment to see if it would stop. Then I told my boyfriend, Kyle, that we needed to go to the Emergency Room. We were there in a matter of minutes and I told the nurse what was happening. She informed me that I was hyperventilating. The immediatly took me back and did an EKG on me. They said everything looked ok and since it wasn't life threating I would have to go back to the waiting room. I sat in the waiting room for 3 hours and finally decided to go home after finding out with would be another 3 hour wait. I went and told the nurse that I was leaving and she wanted to check my oxygen level before leaving. It was fine at first, but then it started to decrese. I am not sure what it got down to though. I went home that night and could barely shut my eyes in fear that I would not wake up. I got very little sleep that night. The next day I was constantly checking my pulse. I could feel my heart pounding and I had a lump in my throat all day. I was much better by Thursday. I went to sleep Thursday night around 12:00. I awoke at 1:20 by sharp pains in my chest, tingling, and closing of the throat. It took about 30 minutes to subside. I was able to go back to sleep. Today my chest is sore. I guess from my heart beating so hard. ect. I decided it would be good for me to talk to other people about what is happening. I know that I have written a lot, but I do have one question. Do any of you have symptoms of anxiety outside of the attacks? Thanks~Allison

Maria, Thanks for responding! I am eager to research MVP. What symptoms were most prominent for you with MVP? It is good to have someone to talk to who understands what a panic attack feels like. Anne-Marie, Thanks so much for the welcome. I did take the anxiety test. As for your question, No I don't know any relaxation tips. Could you please share some. The annoyance is not the panic attacks right now it is the anxiety and chest pains in between. Thanks. Allison

Red, I went to the doctor Wednesday and she put me on Paxil and Visterol. But, the Paxil will not be in my blood stream for 11 more days. So I am having to cope with the anxiety by myself and with the Visterol if I have an attack. I really appreciate your response. I am glad that you are doing better. Allison
