I agree with the other messages. I lost a quit after three years. Somewhere on this site I posted something that I'd learned about relapsing from someone who works in the field. Very rarely do people who have been quit relapse without warnings. I know i had warnings. I just ignored some and didn't fully recognize the importance of others. Also, it was pointed out that those who tend to relapse are often those who have tended to will their way through their quits, without making other changes. People who also see themselves as giving up something, rather then gaining something also have it rough. Leaving an out seems a little like saying, I'm missing you. The counselor pointed out that people who are willful and/or feel that they've given up something will eventually relapse. They may be able to keep the quit for years, but eventually their wills will wear tired and/or their desire will pick up. I think my three year quit was a will power quit that ore thin. I think this quit is a spiritual one that marks a true personality change. I just don't see cigarettes in the same light, although I'm pretty sure that my body will never forget the love affair it once had with nicotine.
