Jacko - I have to add to the congratulations you're getting from everyone. I'm also using Zyban (actually wellbutrin - the generic name for it - much cheaper!) and it's worked wonders for me. I set my quit date for two weeks after I started taking it, and was already down from smoking a pack a day to smoking five a day by that date, and after the hellish first day (I think that no matter what sort of aid you use, the first day just plain rots) - I've done so well!! The biggest thing for me has been not making a big deal out of it. I didn't smoke a lot of cigarettes on my last day or anything, just a few, I didn't want to have it be a farewell to them, or I might miss them too much - I just wanted them to disappear from my life - and they have. Good luck to you!!

Jacko, It takes about 2 weeks for the Zyban or Wellbutrin to kick in. About 2 weeks into my treatment I just woke up one day and had no desire to smoke. Everything was great for about a week, and then severe anxiety set in. The doc then prescribed Xanax and now when I get an anxiety attack one Xanax and I'm cool 20minutes later. Hello Jacko, Congratulations on your decision! This site has been of great help to me! If you do anything before you quit, read Allen Carr's 'EasyWay to stop Smoking' I did and it put me in the right frame of mind to quit. I don't get to discuss football here very much, but I saw your team play last autumn. 1-1 draw as I remember. I support that little team over Salford way! :eg: Anyway everybody's welcome here (even City supporters). I'm sure that you will have a very successful quit! Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 128 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,849 Amount Saved: 960 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 9 Mins: 20 Seconds: 50
