San, Welcome to the site and congratulations on becoming an ex-smoker! It is great to hear that you are ready to quit! The question is are you prepared? Please take advantage of our free Online Treatment Program in your glove compartment as you log into our site. This program will first help you determine if youre ready to quit. If youve already quit and are looking for some help, this program is for you. Although the program will first assess if youre ready to quit the exercises at the beginning of the program will help remind you of the reasons why you quit in the first place. Dont get frustrated - ex-smokers have told us that the exercises at the beginning of the program gave them confidence and helped them reaffirm their personal commitment to remain smoke free. The exercises in this program are divided into six major milestones. Think of each milestone as a destination youre trying to reach. After you complete the exercises in each milestone, your car will progress along the road map located at the bottom left-hand side of the screen. The best thing about this program is that it is free and you dont have to purchase any products to use this program. We hope that we have guided you in the right direction today! Please feel free to contact our support department in our feedback section found at the bottom of this page if you continue to have any questions or concerns. Or, please continue to join us here at our online support group! We wish you all the best and look forward to helping you achieve your goals! Melanie ______________________ The SSC Support Team

As most can see Im just a babe in the woods in my quit. I just joined the ssc. I think it is great to have online support. I am much more likley to use this then to attend any groups with people I don't know. Anyway, I am having an ok time of it. I really don't feel like doing anything but crying. I want to hide under my covers and sleep the days away. I feel like Im in mourning. Has anyone else had this type of response. Don't get me wrong. I quit I wanted to quit I intend to stay quit. but I am really really sad! Actually Red I still have some days like those....It is difficult in more ways imaginable to quit smoking. I accredit this place with alot of my success in staying quit. It doesn't seem very long ago I was were you are. Some days fly by, some days are HELL, but it is quite an accomplishment. I feel like I really can do anything I put my mind too. I always told people when I talked about smoking that I believed it would be hard to give up but something I could walk away from if I wanted to...that's really true...you really want this quit to work then you will do what you have to do to make it work. I have faith in ya! ;p The Chicken My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 269 Amount Saved: $97.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 19 Mins: 27 Seconds: 8

Hi San, Ispent the first 5 days of my quit in bed and I slept as much as I could. If I was awake I'd cry. So no you are not alone. It's true what they say about drinking the water. Drink as much as you smoked. It does help to get those toxins out of your system. Stay close and post as often as you need too. Their is always someone here. Hi SFR, Welcome to our quit family. I didn't really have the crying spells, though I have seen others go through that. It's strange too because I cry at Disney movies and even sad commercials. ;) But I definately understand the mourning of your cigs. A lot of us looked at the cig as a "friend". Something that was always there for them, through the good times and bad. Sad... have a ciggie. Happy ... have another one. Out with friends.... have a few more. So it only stands to reason we feel a sense of loss. But the truth is they are not a friend. Cigarettes are an addiction plain and simple. They are BAD. PERIOD. So know that your thoughts and feelings are normal and they will even out eventually. And if you need to go to bed and pull the covers over your head, go ahead, whatever it takes. We will be here when you need us. Keep Strong. Hi there SanFernandoRed, yup..it's terrible, we've all been there & most of us will honestly admit to the emotional battle scars. You're going through nicotine withdrawl (hardest part). Cry, sleep.. do what you have to do to not smoke. I recon the harder the withdrawl, the better chance you have staying quit. Cigarettes are no longer your friends, they're you enemy - keep strong. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 433 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,840 Amount Saved: $2814.5 Life Gained: Days: 62 Hrs: 3 Mins: 6 Seconds: 24

SanFernandoRed,
"Has anyone else had this type of response."
YES!!!!! You are not alone in this! You are in the beginning stages of your quit, which can be hard, but it is most certainly doable. Drink lots of water to flush the toxins out of your body and be good to yourself right now! You are doing the best thing that you can possibly do for yourself, so it's OK to pamper yourself right now... whatever you need to do... just don't smoke! Congratulations on 2 days! Crave the Quit! I cried for 3 days when I quit, and a whole bunch more days after that. It is normal and maybe its a way to cleanse our bodies of the nicotene. You are doing awesome, dont forget to reward yourself for a job well done!!! Congratulations!!!
