Myth or fact?

-Having a predisposition for panic attacks and disorder is genetic

In the case of panic and panic disorder, it is believed that having a predisposition for panic attacks and panic disorder is actually inherited.

This is not to say that all the risk is based on one's genetics, but findings show that some of one's risk for panic disorder and panic attack is attributed to one's genetic structure. Variations in certain genes have been implicated in panic disorder, but research is still unclear and ongoing as to the extent of their influence.
