Topic: Myth or Fact?

Members,

Myth: Mental illnesses are the result of a weakness of character.

Fact: Mental illnesses are a combined product of the interaction of certain factors such as biological, psychological, and social factors. Schizophrenia, depression, and alcoholism have shown to be linked to genetic and biological factors according to research. Social influences, such as loss of a loved one or a job, are also contributing factors.
