Welcome Jax,  I too am from th Uk, I looked at many sites but came upon this one as it was mentioned in a wonderful book I am using called Overcoming Depression A self-help guide using Cognitive Behavioral Techniques by Paul Gilbert.. I am using th book in conjunction with this site and feel I have come a long way.

Since I set my first goals and posts my attitude towards thinking has changed but only because I allowed it to change. No matter where we are in the world, we have found ourselves on here for one reason or another but now have a common goal. We are here to help and support one another and the support group I find is a big help, as people comment when they feel you are being particularly positive or negative, suggestions from other members can sometimes seem feel impossible, but nothing worth having is impossible, if you stick at this, just doing a little if and when you feel like it, you and your loved ones will see an improvement.

Even if you don't feel like posting or commenting on threads, reading and knowing there are people here to support you is a great relief. You are never truly alone.

Me , myself & I are here to learn to love each other so that we can appreciate the ones who love and support us. Good luck.

God help us if we ever "tut" you. That is not support. We may comment if we think there is a piece of information that will help you and it may seem like "tutting" but it isn't. All information in the forums is just that. Information or personal experience there for you to use as you see fit. You have the right to comment or disagree and both are welcome. We are all different therefore nothing is carved in stone. Even so the program and CBT does work. CBT is really very simple it is the personal off shoots that make it time consuming. If you break it down to it's individual words you will see that what you are going to do is change unwanted thought patterns to more positive ones. The reasons it takes time is two fold. First you have to learn how and then you need to put it into practice enough for it to become ingrained. The more practice the more available it is till it becomes all you remember. Or seems to be since memory can not be deleted only wrote over.

Hello gypsyjax,

Thank you for sharing your story and support with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  You may not get a response immediately but people do respond when they get the chance. We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests.  These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor.

We also have developed a Panic Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.

These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free".  If you have any question or concerns with our “TOOLS”, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net.  We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support.

Welcome Jax,
I think you'll find the tools helpful.  It does take commitment, but we all have our own emotional timetable, don't we?

Take your time, since it is your time and your life.

When you post, we all benefit from your journey, and you have company.

Hi Gypsyjax.

I'm from Canada and I know why you are here. Same reason we all came here. Because we were d..n sick of being unwell and wanted relief. You are not wasting our time or your own. CBT does work. This site has the information to explain why you are the way you are and what to do to get rid of it and get better. And if you put in some of that time when you are restless doing the program you will see that it does work. Even if all you do right now is learn how to use the relaxation and coping skills what have you to lose. It starts with a few minutes of peace then a few more. It takes time but if you concentrate on your accomplishments rather than thinking you can't get better you will. CBT is just what the words say. A changing of your thought patterns so you can bury all that pain where it can't disrupt you.
It works, try it. We will help you.
Time difference will maybe make it slow getting back to you but I will. I'm half a world away in beautiful B.C.
