Hi Keestoo,
I have come a long way with this and can tell you that it is absolutely worth it to talk about it. I decided that for therapy that I would do a presentation to my class of Nursing students on what anxiety does to me on a personal level. In front of my group of about 12 ppl, most just wanted to know more. One even admitted going to the ER with chest pain and them diagnosing her with having an anxiety attack. Many ppl suffer from this, and do not be ashamed! It is a chemical imbalance, and learned behavior. No one chooses this, but it can get better with the right tools :)

Josie is right it is anonymous. But even greater is that we care, and we are here because we have or have had a problem with anxiety and panic. I just decided a long time ago that unless I was totally open how were people to know what I meant. I think we all have had a little trouble being open but it does get easier and well, I have been here a long time. No one will think anything bad no matter what you say or ask. If they do then they have no business being here. Also panic and anxiety hit every body in different ways even though we share similar symptoms. No one will think you are weird. At the most they will think you are different. And over time you will see you are not really that much different. You can be sure of one big thing, You are welcome here and wanted.

Here for you,
Davit

I have a harder time in person also.  It just feels weird to talk so openly about it and not feel like a hypochondriac.  Sometimes I think that is what people are thinking.
But so far today this has been much more comfortable.

Hi Keestoo,
Welcome to the group..In time you will find posting online gets easier and easier. I personally have a harder time talking face to face with people. Just goes to show how different we all are. What causes anxiety in one person doesn't in another at all and vice versa. Hope to hear more from you soon.

Hi Keestoo, Welcome! I 've been here almost a year now..At first I too was a little leary of this "newfound" way of communicating....I wondered if I could express myself on paper as well as I can orally..and not being face to face with the other  people was a little intimidating..but you know what? I've learned that this is a really cool way to communicate..and its easy, you can do it at whatever time of day works for you..and you will never have to worry about looks on people's faces...not that there are any  here.. ha...everyone here is non-judgemental, helpful and easy to talk with. the educators are great too...so feel free to come on and talk, or ask any questions about the program. what chapter on you on? Or have you even started yet? Stick around and you will see...its all good here

Hi Keestoo,

welcome to the group, we are a friendly bunch of people and all have the same or similar anxiety disorders, there is always someone here to listen, help, offer advice and just be supportive, you can say anything you want here and no one will judge you or think anything other than about you getting well as we are all striving for the same thing, the program is great and offers heaps of tips and help and the health educators are great also, post often as it will help to talk to people in similar situations to you.

Hello everyone.  I was just clicking through this site and reading what everyone has to say.  I will admit that I am a little nervous to be completely honest.  I have never done a chat room or anything like that.  I am use to talking to people that I am gonna see sometime.  I don't feel like I can be honest with them all the time because I can't stand the looks on their faces.
