Davit, I really like what you said about blocking out pain and fatigue. I am in much better physical health now than two years ago when the anxiety started. When my anxiety started I smoked, was overwieght and ate a very poor diet. Having anxiety has forced me to change all of these things in a desperate search to try and find relief. I quit smoking, lost 40 pounds and watch more carefully what I eat. I have no illnesses but I can completey identify with blocking out fatigue. I know that I am a hard worker and I continuously strive to be the best in everything I do, even though I completely overrun myself in the process. I guess I start to feel anxious and because I am so busy I am unable to stop and really think about what I am stressed out about. In my mind, I seem to think that stress should be attached to an exact event or occurance when really it could be from fatigue.
mickeylover, it's great that you have found a method to take time for yourself (a shower) and I think that's what I need to do too. Thanks again.
I know what you are going through i could pin point the day i satrted having my panick attacks and the cause was stress but now with this program I am rewiring all the thoughts and "stress" i give myself. The only thing that helps it's to let go of things I take a shower when i feel stressed out then eerything fells better.
You make a good point, pinpointing the source or the root of the stress will help. You will have to start asking yourself some questions to get to the bottom of this. When you experience stress, you can ask yourself why you are feeling this way? What could you change to make yourself feel better? Davit also provided some questions that you can ask yourself as well. Keep us posted, we are here for you!
Could it be because you are only looking for mental stress. What about physical stress? What shape are you in. Do you smoke? Do you have something debilitating, Diabetes, Hyper or Hypotention, Arthritis, or chronic fatigue? What about Lyme? There are a lot of physical, mental and complex things that can cause anxiety. If you are anything like me you block out pain and fatigue just to keep going so you may not notice how much anxiety it is causing.
Some times you can feel the anxiety build and you mistake it for just being tired. Some times if you are busy it sneaks in and hits all at once. But how it comes matters nothing if you have your relaxation and coping skills in place to handle it when it does. If over work is bringing it on and you can't or won't slow down then you have to know how to handle it when it does. Just knowing how to handle it will reduce the number of times it happens.
If you find what sort of unnoticed stress you have please let us know, I am sure others have the same problem and can use the help.
I have been told over and over again that anxiety can be due to stress but I just can't pinpoint whats stressing me out. I guess it could be a number of things but when I think about what could be stressing me out nothing seems to strike out at me. Is there something I can do to help me identify exactly whats bothering me?
